That's not 10k over list with those options it's probably a £42-44k car with some extra performance bits.
Akra exhaust won't void warranty because it's probably a factory option.
Assuming they walked in and didn't get a discount then it's closer to £50k – which is of course mad money for a Golf, but I think lifting the list price by nearly 50% on any car is mental.Akra exhaust won't void warranty because it's probably a factory option.

The Stage 2 tune might though.Akra exhaust won't void warranty because it's probably a factory option.
Wouldn't touch it tho, Stage 2 and in the ad all they say is:
APR ECU Stage 2 Upgrade with Racingline Air Box, carried out by QST at a cost of £1,673.00. This is removable with ease.
Stage 2 needs more than just a map and an airbox! I think it's at least £3k to do it properly.!!
Wow that is expensive for a golf , what about this one, https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... 24k for one over 3 years old , poverty spec as well , . Maybe golf R prices are on the up not making the manual box any more
List for that is around £47-48K, the big options added are:
Performance Pack - £2300
Akra exchaust - £2975
Leather - £1750
Upgraded "infotainment" - £1325
Lane Assist etc - £1120
So while it's defo got a few miles on, they're not going too far over list, espeically with tuning added. Also has the benefit of being a pre-WLTP car, so not down 10bhp on power before tuning.

£45k for a 300hp Golf. No way.
£10k gets a used 300hp something, either from Audi or BMW. Granted, these are now becoming very fast weapons, but for £45k I don't want cheap interior plastics that is expected of a VAG product (still in 2018!!!).
I get your point, but a £10k 300bhp will have some serious compromises compared to a Golf R, BMW M140i etc£10k gets a used 300hp something, either from Audi or BMW. Just scrolled down the first page of this PH search and yeah, I was right.

Obviously it's horses for courses though. But on the first page of the search above, none of those cars would be suitable for my needs whereas my current car is.

I am also going to say that the Golf R itself is a suitable car, I would be looking at a 4 year old example, and not a new model, as the 7.5 really has some minor differences. Same goes for the M135i/M140i, there are very decent models at £15k. If they reach £10k they will be on the list after the Audi, but we are still enjoying that right now

If their "stage 1" is just a remap, then "stage 2" could well be remap + airbox, with "stage 3" being remap + airbox + exhaust.
