"The new Audi Q8 with its road-dominating Dimensions...."

I heard this on the radio earlier. What a ridiculous selling point.

Does it also have armoir plating, a. 50 calibre machine gun mounted to the front and a chaff dispenser on the back?

marketing spin for a vry, very large car which ia probably too big for uk roads, but it means things like other cars, busses, ocean going liners etc will have to get out of your way. Perfect for the school run. Especilly with the coupe-like roof line.

Except that the owners will be afraid to scratch it or lose a wing mirror, so when faced by an assertive driver in a rusty old car, my money goes on the Q8 driver flinching first. hehe

Was that an actual Audi ad?? Sounds a strange PR decision.

Stairs. Roads. The World. It’s like some kind of weird S&M marketing message.

The Q8 is over 2 meters wide and completely unsuited to our roads, imo dominating only works when it's a shed or an unmarked (signwise) company van, an SUV on finance is likely to be one of the least domineering vehicles on the road as the owners won't want any scratches.

A campaign a while back on facebook to remove the width restrictions at a school near me appeared on my news feed, most the comments where pro width restrictions which was satisfying, imo it's better than speed bumps.
These are the ones in question, causes complete carnage each September when the schools go back.

There's also some width restrictions at a pub near to me (in the background), witnessed a few clumps when the pubs chucking out, makes quite a decent drink drive deterrent.

So just another lardy pointless 4 X 4 that is pretending to be "sporty" because the boot space is compromised purely for aesthetics - well Audi did need a BMW X6 rival after all!

Another minging 4 X 4 the rest of us probably won't be able to avoid. banghead

...and of course they'll be parking in "standard sized" bays, so much too close to the cars either side of them.

It's a revolting turd IMO, but goes to show that Audi can sell pretty much anything they make, regardless of looks, functionality and suitability for UK roads.

Saw this at an Aldi recently. Bloke in a shed parked as normal next to a large un. Peak time and few spaces.

Female driver came back, and ended up climbing in through her passenger side door, she saw my amused expression rofl

It's a lot smaller than most artics, I don't hear anyone complaining that lorries more than 2 metres wide are too big.

A vehicle is only classed as abnormal if it's wider than 2.9 metres. By these standards the Q8 is extremely normal.

Quite. People forget roads are sized for things other than cars.

Although, yes, the Q8 is a risible, bloaty blue whale of a white elephant.

''Good Morning, I am John from further down the road with the White Lions on the gate posts''

''Anyhow, my Wife and I have just bought a brand new Q8 at £xyz and unfortunately it doesn't fit on our driveway anymore. We have even tried parking it on the road at the front of our house, but my wife thinks that it cuts out too much daylight. Exactly the same problem as my company van, in fact, which I have to park outside of next door''.

Anyway, I just thought I would let you know that we will be parking it directly opposite your driveway from now on, as anything more than a 10 second walk from our house is totally unacceptable.''

''Well then!!, if that IS a problem for YOU, then I suggest that YOU contact the council and complain about these houses not having big enough driveways. I really don't see how my choosing the car, means that it is my problem to solve''

Audi Q8, soon to be seen parked in a drop off only area, or disabled parking bay near you!!.
