I think the low mpg/high VED could be countered by the low depreciation of an older one.
If that list price is correct, a post 1/4/17 370Z will be £140 pa to tax. Likewise with a Mustang...

Although not quite the same I ran a 350z for just over 3yrs and I really enjoyed it. There's something special about a proper RWD 2 seater coupe in a sea of hatchbacks. Now that the 370z is coming down in price the gap between a HR 350z and a 370z is not as big as it used to be and I would pick a 370z over the 350z if given the choice.

NA v6 is a dying breed so enjoy these cars while you still can before they all have mega miles on the clock.

18 comments on a great RWD N/A manual coupe including this comment. Whereas 132 comments on a new BMW X2 35i. Think that says a lot about PH at the moment. Let alone the moaners that comment on typos of the free test reviews.
I'm surprised no one's had a go about the dashboard or interior quality either.

I like these but not really a great option for me at present with only being a 2-seater - a couple of back seats would place it right on my radar like a BMW coupe or even an RX8
If this was a BMW there'd be 15 pages of comments. Sadly, these days, if its not a BMW, or some cheap lease deal 300-400BHP VAG/Merc no-one on PH is interested...

The 370Z seems to tick a lot of boxes but somehow never really caught on. Even the 350Z seems more commonplace. Perhaps not helped by one contemporary review (5th Gear) deciding the FWD Megane 265 Cup was more fun? The 350Z had a lot of good press, the 370Z very little press of any kind.....

An Infiniti can be had with the same engine - they’re Nissan’s “upmarket” brand. Rarer than hen’s teeth though. New you can get a Q60 with a 3.0 twin turbo V6 with 400+ bhp.

Loved my 350Z and kept it for 8 years, it always felt that bit special, despite the compromises. This is making me want a 370Z!

Well, an 18 month old car seems brand new to me, but technically it's not new, is it? hehe

Congratulations, PH. This is a well-informed article.
As an owner of Z cars for 14 years now, it's reassuring to see there are so many PH readers who understand what a joy these cars are. They look good, they handle well, they accelerate smoothly and beautifully and they just go on & on when many other cars get asthma.
Too many recent articles in the automotive press, written by lazy, unimaginative and superficial journalists, focus only on the fact that the 370z is nine years old and use this fact as a stick to beat it with. Just sit in one and drive it - then you will realise that a good driver's car doesn't suddenly become bad because the model is a few years old. It hasn't been superceded by the plethora of trick-filled hot hatches and saloons on our roads, because it's not competing against them. As has already been mentioned, it's one of the last of the big-engine, inexpensive, naturally aspirated sports cars to be had. Get one while you can. Nissansportz, UK owners club, is a good place to get to know the 350 & the 370.
Happily me for me, the 370z is not a common sight on our roads. Seeing another one is a rare pleasure. Take one for a test drive - you might just get Zeditis. I know I did smile

It’s worth taking a look at an Infiniti G37 if you interested in a 370Z, same great engine and chassis, just slightly softer, but a lot better finished interior.
We love ours, best car we’ve ever owned

I fee Zed cars don't get the praise they deserve. They have a long lineage and offer fairly unique propositions.

I can only vouch for my HR 350Z which I have had for over 4 years and do not plan to sell. It's always nice seeing another owner and giving them a wave.

The one I seen the stiching on roof above drivers door looked a bit ropey ,is it an expensive or easy fix

Great Article - this part however is not correct "Nissan added the 344hp Nismo in August 2014" - Owners in the UK had a limited run Nismo 370z in the Summer of 2013. Only around 120 of those were ever built for the UK market and are six inches longer than a stock 370z with a Big Wing and front splitter. As well as different Nismo Wheels. Some were used for GT Academy (13 Plate Cars mainly) - The original Nismo have a numbered plate behind the drivers seat indicating a limited Run. The newer Nismo's don't have this.

What is now the 370z Nismo was released in the Summer of 2014. For a while both models were available. The original Nismo had Cloth GT Seats - but the same Performance Dampers and Different Wheels. Attached are pictures of my car registered March 2014 - which was the original Nismo Model.

Always liked these, I remember sitting in one at a car show in launch and thinking i'd own one some day.

Still haven't managed it, and with two young kids it's unlikely.

One thing i've always wondered, can you turn the rev match off? I tend to blip on downchanges anyway.

Shame they don't seem to attract much attention - I really like them.

I nearly went looking for one 4 years ago, but ended up buying a BMW Z4 Coupe instead. OK it's slightly slower than a 370Z at 5.7 secs to 62, but road tax is over £200 a year less and it's far more economical.

But they're still on the radar as a potential future option - I do like an N/A 6-pot petrol with RWD and a manual gearbox! thumbup

I've got the 350z engine in my Elgrand. Getting it LPG converted in a couple of weeks by a guy that specialises in doing these engines and is very well regarded

I bet he would do a good job on one of these too. Is this a thing with Zed owners?

I think they're beautiful, if a bit big and I'm not sold on v6s unless they're turbod, I'm sure the engine is better than the 350z motor but found the 350z dull and got an evo instead. It's like Nissan version of a supra with no turbo!

Always fancied a 350z but maybe one of these will be in the cards in the next few years.

I havent heard of many people doing it. They do around 25mpg ish which is in line with most peoples expectations of a 300BHP odd coupe.

What do you get from your Coupe? From memory we got around 27 in ours. I think our 370Z averaged 23-25 over the same runs.

It does prefer superunleaded though whereas i think the Z4 coupe runs on 95RON, so that adds a bit to every fill too.

Zed owners tend to be more concerned with increasing the power so tend to go for remaps, exhausts etc so wouldnt be keen to give up any power by going for lpg
