My E61 has this - four little orange side lights at the top outer edge of the headlights. I think I turned them on by accident when messing around with the coding and haven't managed to turn them back off.

I'm not sure it is doing anyone any particular harm?

For me, I think that indicators permanently on makes you look like a tool.

I had the indicators enabled as sidelights a la USA spec on my GTi
Why??
Because I liked the look.

And that's why it's great to not care what others think.

I did the same when I tinted my fogs yellow. I liked it, that's enough for me.

Well, that’s lucky you don’t care that most people think anyone who does it looks like an idiot when they do it then.

Otherwise you might get upset and constantly post defensively about it.

I think the current knob fad is tinted or smoked number plates
Yes!! Exactly this, what is all that about...? Looks so naff!
A Bentley Bentayga has appeared in the last week or so in my neck of the woods with tinted number plates; you can kind of expect it on a £5k Astra but not on a £250k Bentley.

The E61 5 Series has the orange marker lights as standard but enabling the indicators as side lights is a thing on E46 BMWs as well as Golfs. The first car with orange side marker lights in this country as far as I'm was the Volvo S40 and V40 and Land Rovers have had them as well. One problem is you get people pulling out in front of you because they think you're indicating to turn.

Personal number plates, especially on older cars "oh look I've got a 10 year old BMW/Audi/Merc but because it's got personal plates I look as though I'm loaded!"

Absolute tools.

My BMW had the LED headlights and had orange daytime running lights, if thats what you mean. They came on automatically and can only be turned of by turning the headlight of manually.

Two pages and no one has realised its because its the only way that the indicators on a BMW will ever get used.

Just proves that the £250k Bentley owner is the same person that owned a £5k Astra. Getting a load of money off compo / inherited / pharma reselling / flogging an idea to Google etc, doesn't mean you have any better taste, just more money. And more likely to get caught in a speed camera. Or, in this instance, get pulled by the rozzers because you are a knob in a £250k car and they now have an excuse to make life difficult for you.

In those interminable TV cop reality shows, they are forever pulling over people for doing something trivially yet obviously stupid (e.g. no lights at night, blacked out tail lights, blacked out number plates, burnouts in front of CCTV cameras) and then finding out they are a mass murderer or something. It seems that the more of a low-life crim you are, the more you feel the need to advertise the fact to the world.

As opposed to posting on behalf of "most people" when you have no way of knowing what "most people" think.

My guess would be "most people" wouldn't notice.

My 350Z was standard and had 4 orange LEDs on each side that came on with the headlights. Finding out that it annoys people with nothing better to do than get annoyed about the inconsequential choices of others makes me miss it all the more.
