Forgot to post pic of the Defender on duty in 2013-14 winter in the Alps:

That car took me to the top of the mountains in the middle of the night to indulge a photography hobby, where I got shots like the one below. A small baby may put paid to that element of the trip this time...

Don't have anything to offer car wise but seems like a real nice offer from a genuine guy. Good stuff.

Harry the Cayenne has Isofix, had it for just short of 2 years and other than some minor work to sort a couple of things when we first bought it, it hasn’t missed a beat. It’s black with black leather, Xenons, heated seats front and back, heated steering wheel etc

It was great in the snow last year too, even on snow covered gravel and out drive is fair steep. Garage, locked gates etc here too.

I think I'm in the same borough as you and my wife should be amenable to another AMG for a little while. smile

It's a 2008 Cayenne S, on air suspension and recently fitted with M+S-rated Yoko Geolander tyres:

It has been the family car with 2 young kids for about 3 years. It has high miles because the previous owner used it to bomb down through France. We've used it for an annual summer holiday into central France too. As an ex-demo the spec is decent, except no heated seats! We use a sheepskin in winter. biggrin

Ooh...yes! M&S Geolanders are a big bonus, as tyres matter as much as the car in those conditions.

This thread is delivering some great choices chaps!!

Muncher - definitely interested, and the locked gates are a big bonus!

That is just awesome. Had I no wife and child, you'd be getting a call this very evening, and I'd just drive everywhere in full ski gear with the skis taped to the roll bar, roofless. Sadly, I don't fancy divorce.

Bus wkers!!

Honestly, the locals survive up there perfectly well in cars like this on snow tyres. They laugh at us Brits in our big 4x4s...

It's my mums and to be fair, it's not half bad. I'm looking after it whilst she temporarily can't drive (just add fuel - whats not to love!).

I wouldn't recommend it for your drive though, however if you do need someone to look after the AMG then I'd like to offer myself! I promise to replace the rear tyres before you get back. rofl

Really enjoying this thread, certainly better than some of the others that appeared today.

for those who end up swapping, can you start a new thread "adventures of the car swap buddys" and update it about your experiences with each others respective cars...

Time to pick them harry. I came here to offer my ropey 10 year old Accord tourer on winters but somehow I don’t think it’ll pass muster. hehe

Welcome to borrow my R-class. I've had a C63 before so would likely only use yours to keep the wheels turning rather than use it in anger. Little left-field choice, if you like it I would entertain parting with it too.

Now beggars can't be choosers, but I don't suppose anyone has a late model L322 Rangie in TDV8 flavour that they would swap??

OP - maybe when you have down selected your favourites you can do a poll for the winner? Awesome thread!
