Yeah ALA is sooo yesterday
I have done some independent study and looked at the CFD calculations on ALA as currently adopted on the latest generations of Lamborghinis and the numbers don’t add up. The benefits currently claimed by Lamborghini do not match the results I have seen. Like in days of old Lamborghini have a habit of exaggerating the aerodynamic effectiveness of their wings etc. This is not to say they don’t provide some benefit, just not as much as is claimed

Hhhhhmmm... Who to believe? Like in days of old Lamborghini have a habit of exaggerating the aerodynamic effectiveness of their wings etc. This is not to say they don’t provide some benefit, just not as much as is claimed
Lamborghini?
The independently verified ring records?
Bloke on internet with massive McLaren bias?

Eye of the beholder the 600LT is absolutely sublime - love the looks and the lines - Lambo's (Audi deluxe) are sooo yesterday...
^^This. I love it. Something other major hyper cars have lost over the years. Both Lamborghini and Ferrari had and lost it.
McLaren just need to be careful they don't go the same way.

I wouldn’t be so dismissive - a lot of industry folk comment on these forums.Lamborghini?

That ‘bloke on the internet’ might just be a leading engineer in the automotive world.
Who knows? He’s certainly right about Lambo exaggerating claims - although they aren't alone to be fair.
I wouldn’t believe everything the Lambo press office serves up quite so readily (especially if you knew them)

My local Halfords seems to stock roof boxes, camping equipment and bicycles. What does any of that have to do with supercars and why is it suggested so often?
Because its a slightly dim-witted, tired old trope used by people who don't like the styling of a particular car but don't know how to accentuate it in words, whilst bearing little resemblance to what Halfords actually sells. I doubt anything on a 600LT is available in Halfords other than some light bulbs and oil..exceed said:

It looks like it's melted ... mind you McLarens do have a habit of self-combusting ...
Don't think they do actually, the 488 and the Aventador are well documented as combusting. There was a P1 that went up in flames, but that was 1 of 700.
Never heard of any of the Super or Sports series combusting :O.
Re: the article, this is what the 570S should have been from the start. Still not sure on the LT nomenclature, think 600R or 600S-R would have been more appropriate - performance aside of course (considering it's 9/10ths of the 675LT before it!)!

So it's happened 3 times, based on that link - the blue P1, the white 650S, and the red MP4-12C. I think we can probably exclude the F1 as it has nothing in common with modern McLarensMeanwhile, in Italy:
Ferrari 488 sales stopped due to fire risk
Lamborghini Aventadors recalled over fire risk

Good looking car but I fail to see how it can be called a Long Tail.
I agree! In as much as it's possible to be irritated by something so far removed from my day-to-day existence, I don't think that very minor extensions to a car's bodywork qualifies it to be a 'Longtail'. It's just a cheap attempt by McLaren to cash in on the prestige and heritage of the F1. The 97 onwards F1s were genuine longtails, the modern LT variants just aren't...but I'd still want one!BelfastBoy said:

If a model in the range is named LT we know it’s the more hardcore track focused model. I couldn’t care less they’re not at least a foot longer, like you, if I had the wedge, I’d be speccing one up.
