It's nice to see a manual, 6 cylinder E36 saloon that hasn't been chavved up (and in great condition). I hope whoever buys this continues this lack of chavviness. Shame about the gear knob though.

These are still relatively quick by today's standards;

0-60: 6.8
0-100: 17
1/4: 14.7 seconds
AutoCar even managed 6.1 in the Touring with spindly 205s on
That's because the Touring is the best. biggrin
6.1 seconds! These things always put out more than the official figures right? I remember CAR magazine comparing one to the E36 M3 and being impressed with its pace.

Manifold from the M50 engined 325i is larger and a common upgrade for the 328i as it opens up the top end (though claimed at the expense of some low down torque).
Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying!

That's a great shed. Someone please snap it up and cherish it. I was waiting to cross the road once in around 1999 and one of those went past racing a chap in an 850 T5. I don't condone racing on the public road, but the noise from both cars was glorious!

As great a track car as it may make, I hear what you say; it looks such a nice, straight example you'd think/hope someone would want to take it on for what it is.

Top shed anyway.

ive drive the 323i coupe - what a gutless PoS that felt like. The 328i must be a world apart. A friend had the 192hp version in the Z3. Rapid.

Missed the boat on E36s unfortunately, hard to find a manual 328 for anywhere near the £1000 they were a few years ago frown

While I still have an e36 (325iA sport touring) I do miss my old 328i Sport. It was an early model with factory LSD in Artic silver. Bought it in mid-2004 and had to replace the engine in early 2005 (sounds a lot like my 996...) with a new short engine from BMW. Thankfully they were heavily discounted at the time. Over the years I did pretty much all the usual performance mods to the engine and suspension. If the rust hadn’t got to it I suspect it’d still be in my garage now.

Alright, who else bloody well went and Googled 'Armstrong-Siddely Chuffmaster'?? Anyone? Anyone? Oh, so what you mean is that I am the one and only total plonker here who went and did that?

Yep, I feel like a 100% gold-plated @rse right now: what a complete eejit!!!!

Although it has the same performance as the Alfa 155 GTA of the same era that Alfa fans were getting excited over earlier in the week.

I really, really like that and would happily daily drive it. I look back on my E36 fondly.

Those seats are flat and uncomfortable though. I don't think you can get non-folding Sport seats, either.

Lovely car from when handling was about balance rather than huge grip and concrete suspension. I’d happily run that as a daily - it’d be a shame if it gets gutted for track use.

Engine in these makes a good noise but is a bit lazy - I think with an m50 manifold and some new bushes it’ll be lovely. I’d keep the dinky wheels.

I'm not admitting to that but I did spend a few minutes trying to work out if the Austin A75 was real or not.

That looks great, i've a BMW itch I need to scratch.

If these had popped up 6 weeks ago when my Zetec S died, i'd have been interested.

Hope someone saves it from track days, it looks too good for that.

Now go and search the Deltic Diesel engine and understand why it might not fit a motor car. It really is some engine!

I've owned a couple of E36's, and I can testify that they are amazing cars. A friend had a 323i coupe when I had my 320i Touring, and performance wise there wasn't much between them. A colleague had the 328i Touring with the auto box, and whilst it was less sharp than the manuals, it still moved pretty well, top trumping both the 320i & 323i.
Usual gremlins are rust on the rear arches and bushes (all of them). Everything else pretty much falls under maintenance.
Great shed, and one you could keep as is. Enough of them have been butchered / ruined, so it would be nice to see a little preservation. An LSD wouldn't hurt though ;-)

And better still, try to figure out how half of it would fit!

A nice example, and they are presumably getting rare with a manual box.

Is that an F Type in the garage?

Looks in pretty good condition apart from the nearside rear wheel arch being a bit scabby. I'd love another one.
