Also from the same sellers, a rather unusual 'Shooting Brake' edition!

The Lagonda is one of my all-time favourite cars.

I love the idea of a four-door Aston. Just not that four-door Aston...

Yes please! Series 2 or 3 for me, but not in white - a dark colour suits better.

I know these cars are Marmite (and it seems like more people hate than love) but then I also like the Rolls Royce Camargue, so I might just be an odd minority.

Looks better than the Roos Engineering conversion:

I'm in the "No" camp.
Used to love the look of them when I was growing up in the 80s. I thought they looked amazing.
Now not so much.

That said, the vast majority of the angular 80s cars I loved as a kid I love even more now.
Just not this.
Sorry Lagonda frown

A real car straight out of the Thunderbirds. I've always wanted one. Ever since I was a kid. There is one here in Guernsey, rotting away in someone's front yard. Maybe I should knock on the door . . . . . . . . .

This gives a great rundown of the ins, outs and weirdnesses - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP07Jq5b88M

If I had paid a significant amount for a car with such excruciatingly mediocre ergonomics I'd be forced to torch it. There's 'quirky' and then there's a flat out piss take.

Shape aside, the whole car smacks of 'good enough' followed by giving up completely, going home early and leaving the char lady to finish it off.

Any Aston employee could've installed a goat in it and within two minutes the goat would have committed suicide or lost its mind.

A red one?

I should think it's spares or repair only.

These seemed impossibly futuristic to a young lad like me in the early 80s, dated very badly during the next 20 years, but there was one at a classic car show near me a few weeks ago and it looked stunning, much to my surprise.

I always remember them being too large and a bit ungainly, maybe the increasing size of cooking motors in the last 30 years or so has diminished the size somewhat, and even with the comical wheelbase the wider variety of body styles nowadays means its bold appearance doesn't stick out as much as it did way back then.

Someone on here bought one at an auction at the RAF museum a couple of years ago - for £17k

Great polarising thread this one biggrin

I'm not fond of the Lagonda, but the Camargue is on my lottery list. If you want a car with a front end which says 'out of my way', this is it.

Makes me think of the time my Dad let me get in the first RR works demonstrator in that 80's colour Mistletoe, while it was on display at his company's HQ showroom in Eastbourne. I still have the very treasured brochure.

Back in the 70's I used to regularly see a blue one of these parked in Worcester. I think only 7 were ever built.

Not for me.

Reminds me of those ‘Winkle Picker’ shoes that men in shiny suits wear.
