Is a Skoda Superb a Range Rover rival?

Culligan?
Named after the largest ever diamond - 3106 carats found in a mine in Cullinan, South Africa.

Don’t feel embarrassed that you don’t know that, the peasantry aren’t expected to by RR marketing hehe

No, i am saying that it doesn’t have to be pretty. It is all about the drive, occasion and exclusivity along with quality, noise reduction etc...but you knew what I meant and you were just being a clever wordsmith.

Really, my water softener was named after a massive diamond? End of the day. Association with grand item or not, I ripped it out as it ate salt.

As for RR. I’m sure they’ll be delighted I will forever look at their flagship SUV and think of an Allegro.

I actually think it works. It is instantly recognisable as a Rolls in terms of design, and they are meant to be big and brash cars.

I'm not much of a SUV fan, but for luxury transport it is probably a nice place to be, and isn't any worse looking than the Phantom. Saloons are declining, so this is logical for them to move forward.

If there's a generous manufacturer deposit contribution I may consider it.

Massive respect to the person who, in 10 years time, crops up in the Readers' Cars section saying he's just bought a 10 year old example for, say, £40k and is going to do the maintenance himself. Hopefully me!
Agreed totally. Until this post I was going to say I could appraise it objectively as the price puts it “beyond jealousy”. Of course the front is an aggressive example of conspicuous consumption which is grafted on to a large 4x4. However, as Matt Prior has pointed out ,the Cayenne and then the Bentayga were slated for their looks, yet went on to be sales successes.

You know yes its vulgar, I wouldn’t be seen dead in it (unless they do a hearse) yes it does look like the XC90 based Taxi, but you know what, compared to the Bentayga, its a beauty.
Yeah, but it's like asking who'd you prefer - Susan Boyle or Janet Street Porter.
