Red bull and Honda
Discussion
Again Max went from near the back to battling the leader with his renault engine.
Meanwhile the bullred honda was doing its usual bumping around the back job but
apparently its better than renaults effort.
The current love in with the honda lump seems to be driver by the fear that f1 nearly lost
their contribution to the show (money)
Deiter redbull know he wont be beating mercedes and ferrari in the next few years so why waste hundreds of millions paying renault.
Dummies at mclaren should have accepted this and got on with their 10 year program with honda.

It's hard to argue with the ramblings of a lunatic but I'll have a go. The Toro Rosso isn't anywhere near as good a car as the Red Bull is aero or chassis wise, it hasn't been since they had to build their own rather than have 4 of the same car over 2 teams.
You could put any engine in the back of that Red Bull it'd still finish behind the Mercedes and Ferrari, stick a Mercedes engine in the back of it and it wouldn't be long before Mercedes left after having a customer team wipe the floor with them on a weekly basis.

Unless Honda make a massive leap it's unlikely that RB will be contenders next year. Aside from anything else, adapting to the new engine is bound to introduce issues. They will be happy to be third again as the risk is that they could slip back down the field. Look to the season after next as to when it is likely to come together.
Hopefully Honda will become competitive - it would be good to have four potentially race winning engines.

Redbull are not "contenders" now either.
They get a few lucky results when ferrari and mercedes make tactical errors or have mechanicals.
Why be a customer and have a same old same old approach. Renault have had since the inception of the hybrid formula to make a competitive engine and they haven't managed to.
Redbull will be a Honda factory team with all the support that brings.
Can bet the redbulls will still be finishing ahead of the ph messiah teeth at renault next year.

Or more likely the RedBull will catch fire/melt/overheat like it already does with a physically smaller engine while Merc, Force India and Williams run like clockwork and Whinger Spice accuses Mercedes of supplying it duff engines while Maurizio breathes a sigh of relief that it's not them.Red bull (back in the day) had the fastest car that had slow straight line speed because they ran a lot of downforce and a lot of drag. they prioritised aero over the cooling requirements of the kers. Or even running kers in the first place. They've always done that. Hell, Newey has always done that. The thing is, Newey was only part dedicated to the cars of recent years, and his exhaust blowing genius was killed by regs. It will be interesting to see if Red Bull's arrogance is deserved next year - like McLaren it may wellcome about that their corner to straight speed ratio isn't just explained by the engine...
I'm not an expert, but: if I owned 2 F1 teams and one was a consistent front-runner, I'd make sure the B-team's car was as similar as it could be.
We all know that Red Bull have fallen out with their current PU supplier so of course they're going to big-up Honda, hoping for more luck than the boys from Woking.

If Honda somehow are competitive it'll still mean only 3 potentially race winning engines. The Renault engine in the works team or Mclaren hasn't exactly looked a race winning engine has it? isaldiri said:

Renault wins again in dominant fashion.
Honda lump (better than the renault according to red bull) 2 laps down this time.
And one Mercedes was a lap down, the world champion was 2 seconds away from being a lap down. Does that mean that the Renault engine is now the best engine in F1? Honda lump (better than the renault according to red bull) 2 laps down this time.
