I always used to think the R33 was a nicer looking machine. I can see now I was very wrong.

I still prefer the R33 but that's because I had one. Had to sell it following a house purchase and still regret it. frown

Sold my 530bhp R32 GTR in 2008 for about 10k. Would have kept it but I got bored with the plastic interior so I got something a bit different and bought a Cerbera smile

Never have I owned a less reliable vehicle than one of these. It was truly satanic. Gearbox, diffs, turbos, suspension. All of it went wrong. I'll assume a top dollar car is fully sorted as it's so old these days. I'm still never going back there.

This thread makes the car sound as legendary as it is!
That performance car mini review just makes Tim's car sound incredible, the pics of utterly mint examples, the tales of epic financial ruin for the unlucky ones. This car just doesn't do 'boring'.

I remember when you could get these around the 10k mark not that long ago!
Likewise, its the american market that driven them up - would have been a good investment - bit like the 996 turbos - they were down to 20-25k only a couple of years ago..

Remenber that was 20 years ago as well. Not many cars with that performance then

I was fortunate to drive a mint stock one around Tokyo earlier this year and was a great car. Was surprisingly easy to drive and the acceleration was fantastic, went for a drive with a few folk on the expressways to daikoku and was a lot of fun.

The power and traction felt a lot more stable than my rx7, in that car you don't get much power until much higher in the revs then the backend gets lively.

Frustratingly back when I got the rx7 in 2012 I was deciding between a Supra, s2000 or an rx7. I really should've considered an r32 as well.

Hearing how expensive these were 7-8 years ago has made me sad!

Why couldn't i have been in the position i am in now 5 years earlier!

I could buy one now at 2012 prices!

Agreed, perfection, and I am not one to over eulogise about old cars at all, I love the later Skylines and the GTR but none looked as right as the R32.

Great colour, wheels and ride height look perfect, so many Skylines, and other Japanese stuff gets over done, but they got it right in so many cases from the factory, RX7, Supra, 300 ZX etc.

I nearly bought an R32 a couple of years ago but Nissan factory driver Jann Mardenborough beat me to it! I had an R33 though, that was great although the interior is shockingly dull for the 'legend' car that it has become.

I know in writing a buying guide, you have to write it from the perspective of a standard car, otherwise, where do you start? But, this seems to be written from a template that might ordinarily apply to a previous generation M3, where modified cars are the exception.

For R32s, probably more than any other car, good luck finding a standard one.

A buying guide would be more useful in explaining what mods are good and bad to look out for, since pretty much anything is both possible and available in these cars.
My thoughts exactly. Great and thorough guide, but in reality there must only be a very small number of standard cars left out there.

Jann posted on Twitter recently that he was thinking of selling his R32, though I imagine an R32 driven by a Super GT driver will command a premium!

I've always wanted a R32 or R33 but prices are out of reach for me now unfortunately. It definitely deserves its legend status but it's a shame I'll likely never get to own one now.

I'm selling mine.

It's just radio control though so you'll have to shrink yourself down...
