I'll save everyone some time, and write the review for you now.

- Blisteringly fast
- Quick off the line
- Neutral balance
- Slightly underwhelming
- Interior sets new benchmarks for quality and fit and finish

I'm using the MBQ platform as a stick to beat Audi with as a whole, ya dweeb. Audi part share throughout their range with much cheaper cars in the VAG family.
Thanks poppet.

No wonder Tesla is doing well ,Dinasour .
VAG made €14bn profit in 2017
Tesla lost $2bn in 2017

I’m not sure that qualifies as “doing well” to most.

You’ll see a fully electric Audi if/when the finances add up.
Still early days for Tesla and they’ve clearly had their difficulties but there’s a lot of smart money invested. Keep an eye on those profitability figures over the next couple of years.
If Tesla are supplying batteries for VAG it could look a very different picture.

As for Audi waiting for the finances to add up before launching their EV - they’re not that canny unfortunately.
Truth is they got swept away by their Diesel domination and took their eye off the electric ball. They are way behind where they need to be and are frantically playing catch up.
Audi always prided themselves on their advanced engineering and technology (Vorsprung Durch Technik means: leaping ahead through technology) but they have been caught with their pants down.
If they had a competitive EV offering ready now they would be agressively punting it globally - especially post dieselgate.
You’re faith in the all conquering VAG is misplaced (in this instance).
Yeah Audi are miles away ...

"The four-wheel-drive E-tron uses two asynchronous motors, one at the front axle and one at the rear axle, producing up to 402bhp and 487lb ft. In normal mode, it produces 355bhp and 414lb ft and is capable of 0-60mph in 6.4secs. At full power, in boost mode, it achieves 0-60mph in 5.5secs. Top speed is 124mph. Energy to power the motors comes from a 95kWh battery – the largest on the market and only matched by Tesla’s top-of-the-range Model S 100D."

This whole thing of stupid power outputs is getting ridiculous. Who actually needs 650 hp in a 4-door vehicle, be it a saloon, coupe or SUV? Why can't all these manufacturers look at building cars with better power to weight ratios. All these headline grabbing power outputs are probably necessary because cars and their occupants are getting bigger and heavier. I'd be more impressed if someone came up with a lightweight vehicle with less power but with equivalent performance. Just bolting on bigger turbos is not the answer.
Just out of question, why do you ask who needs this amount of power in a 4 door car, SUV etc but omitted small sports cars (eg a supercar). Why? Surely in a heavier car having more power makes more sense.

You talk about more power to weight, but by adding power they do that. How would you strip a lot of weight from a car like this, without sacrificing one of its USPs (ie being quiet, comfortable and full of luxury)?

Cheers
With advancements in technology and construction materials and processes someone should be able to design and build a lightweight vehicle which is quiet, comfortable and full of luxury. Something with about 350/400 bhp should be ample, but with much less weight to lug around is surely feasible...
You realise £1m plus Pagani's, made out of Carbon and other exotic materials weigh in at at least 1,350kg - a 2 seat car, with little sound proofing, few toys, few luxuries and little regard for airbags etc and is regarded as lightweight.

There is no advancement in technology that can make a 4.5m long 5 seat, 4 door saloon, packed with technology and 5 star safety equipment weigh less than a black hole and not cost 7 figures.
As long as one manufacturer makes a 600+ bhp lump of heavy steel, all it's rivals will. No one will say "I'm gonna concede sales to them because I don't think we should keep doing this"

It is what it is. Some people want them and that's fine.
I often ask myself what is the point in making cars like the Hyararararara. I can't say it, will never see one, can never afford one, couldn't drive one as it would lose it's value (that I couldn't afford), has no practical use whatsoever and will certainly kill me and my 1 passenger (no luggage) as it's 2 feet tall and will get run over by a BMW X1.

Not seen many E-Trons round my way.
How about you?

Of course Audi are all over EV and I've no doubt they'll build a brilliant car.
My point was, it should be here by now.

No one outside of VAG management knows, but it could be they just decided not to sell a car they will make a loss on and will revise that should it become profitable to do so.

Could be... but it’s not the conversations I remember hearing in Ingolstadt...
