When I had an Escort Cosworth, I just said I drove an Escort, if asked. Especially to women who were gold digging.

Could Audi not think of a more contrived name ?
Aren't all modern car names contrived? I always thought "Speciale" was rather sad ... I'd still like to own one
Yes many are naff.

Speciale isn't the best postcript, but it is Italiano smile

WE are comparing them because a ttrs will accelerate faster than the most affordable R8 which is still 2x the price. Does the old Volvo do 0-60 mph in 3.5s? I didn’t think so
You keep comparing them like a 10 year old playing Top Trumps if that is your thing. It is a lovely childish game of statistics..

Forgive me however, I prefer to do this.

And admire my my bum
If you’re talking about similar prices, like a 911 GTS vs a R8 RWS, and the 911 is faster, sure. Or that a 570s will completely walk a R8 in a drag race, ok, the R8 sounds way better, and I get that. They are about the same price. The TTRS is half the price... for you to have little to refute other than sound, and bum... that’s just a failure imo on Audi’s part.

Comparing cars, you compare cars with prices, looks, performance and feeling. If doing that is what you call “10 year old” talking then everyone one here is a child.

Do you live your life a quarter mile at a time?

From Audi's point of view there is not a single yardstick or parameter where the R8 has been a failure.

The GTS would not be faster than a RWS, straight line or drag race. Drag race between a 570S and R8 V10 Plus would be close, I have seen YouTube videos where both cars win when compared in a straight line. I have not simply refuted it with sound. The R8 handles MUCH nicer than the TT. The engine is a masterpiece and a vital part of any high end sports car/super car, it is what elevates them from the masses. It will challenge you more (mid engine over front engine) at the limit. I will get looks no TT RS will get (if that matters) and having had a number of nice motors I know how the R8 is viewed and how people view them compared to a TT, RS or not. I have driven all the current R8's, many old R8's, I have an R8 and I have driven several TT RS's. You?

Well you are one dimensional. 0-60 was the point I refuted, as that was your validation of 50K saved it seemed. Any R8 owner could have a TT RS if they wanted. They chose the R8, why do you think that is? The internet is full of people who are not in a place to buy, but know best. Your post comes across that way, as does you follow on defence. I might be totally wrong of course and all power to you. You could have a garage full of hypercars and have both an R8 and TT RS, but that seems unlikely.

The comparisons between the TT and R8 are batst. One is a front engined hatchback with the proportions of a hatchback. The other is a supercar.

The TT alas will never generate this level of interest and discussion on such a regular basis that's for sure.
£50k to spend on a proper car will at least see you into a gen 1 R8 V10 and a lot of fun, drama and talk about your car. That's not gonna happen with any other v10 mid engined alloy panelled car I'm aware of.

Buyers of high end cars only look at performance as one aspect and at supercar level it’s arguably not the most important d as they’re all so fast anyway

There are loads of fast cars out there that supercar buyer wouldn’t consider buying and the TT is one of them

Tt is not part of the consideration set for someone buying a supercar

Your argument is clearly flawed as anyone buying an R8 could afford many faster cars like Porsche 997tt, GTR

As has been said several times, if you can’t afford one then you don’t have a relevant understand of the consideration factors

It won't.

The standard V10 Plus will be more than a match for the 570s. 1/4 mile times are 10.5 for both cars, over a kilometre there's a tenth of a second in it. Looking at the figures it appears they would be neck and neck until around 150/160mph. Let's not forget this is not a standard V10 Plus though smile

So, we can't talk about it if we can't afford it? Better close the F1 board then.

Anyone notice the R8 in the Hankook tyres ad?

They used the Mk1. I assume they could have used pretty much any model they fancied so I think that's a nod to the aesthetics of the mk1 in my book.
