RE: McLaren 720S Spider set for December reveal
Discussion
Personally speaking I am very much looking forward to seeing it & how they have made it work as the original 720 coupe design didn't lend itself to a convertible version as was.
McLaren do make stunningly capable best performing in class cars. You may or may not like the products looks or the company itself but only a fool would deny they are producing some very impressive cars from a standing start only a few short years ago & moving the technology performance game on from the established players, forcing them to up their game.
I would hope to find myself in one at some point in the next year or two as a logical next step on from the 570 Spider I currently run, a car I have been absolutely delighted with thus far. It has a fabulous blend of outright performance / driver feedback, coupled with outstanding practicality.
This is something that may not be high on some multi supercar owners remit (Leg I'm think of you here as you are somewhere spoilt for choice!) but for us mere mortals running only one such car I really do appreciate that it can be a relaxed cruiser when there are normal roads & distances to cover with excellent visibility / decent stereo etc etc. Then of course when the mood & roads suit its very capable of being an up on its tip toes exciting road rocket too.

Sideways Si.
As I mentioned, limited edition cars is what McLaren do. The two models announced recently add up to about 180 cars.
This new 720 Spyder, which follows the pattern of previous models, was always going to happen.
I'm sure we can expect an LT version some time soon. Also I'm sure that when the LT is announced you and the other idiots who seem to want to knock McLaren for trying to grow their company will be hitting their keyboard with stupid remarks.
If your post was meant to be a joke, try posting your 'jokes' on the Sean Connery thread.
Good for McLaren for giving their customers a choice of cars.
Instead of knocking them, how about supporting this growing company that is bringing much needed money into our country along with adding to the prestige of 'Brand Britain' as we head into Brexit.

Really? REALLY?
In what fked up universe of petrolhead-ism is a 720hp convertible supercar that is faster than pretty much anything else on the roads boring?!
Its not the car as a standalone thing, it is the fact that every change to a model requires a launch these days. Different coloured seats, stickers, slightly different roof? Call it a seperate model designation and have a release party. In what fked up universe of petrolhead-ism is a 720hp convertible supercar that is faster than pretty much anything else on the roads boring?!
Lotus and Porsche have been doing it for years and it is tedious.

I for one am happy to tolerate it as a side effect of the ground breaking cars they come up with.
Quietly obsessing over the 720s after a test drive this summer. Initially didn’t like the 12C as I thought the design couldn’t have been more exciting, but I now think it has aged beautifully. The 720s I didn’t like until I saw it in person and I think it’s one of the few cars that I’d choose the coupe over the convertible, even in the perpetually sunny city I hope to run it.
It’s a deeply, deeply impressive machine, and I was genuinely terrified at the way it piled on speed and amazed at the braking as the dealer demonstrated for the first 5 minutes. It manages to be at once subtle and supercar showy which is a tremendous design achievement in itself. It’s a car that has to be seen up close and in person for all the details to be fully appreciated.
Once the fears of servicing/support of independent specialists are tended to (remains my only concern), Mclaren will be at the very top of the game. Massive achievement to be able to create and produce so muvh for a relatively new car company.
We should be proud of our tiny island and what “we” are capable of.

Serious question... What is it about regular launches that is offensive? I actually cannot understand why it would be an issue to anyone.
One model a year/month/week - up to the manufacturer and I genuinely cannot see why it would ever be an issue worthy of comment let alone anger.
It gives moaners something else to moan about? One model a year/month/week - up to the manufacturer and I genuinely cannot see why it would ever be an issue worthy of comment let alone anger.
All manufacturers do this, including volume, it’s nothing new. If people here don’t wanna read about the latest cars from a supercar manufacturer, regardless of how often they are, I’d suggest they either simply don’t read the release, or they’re on the wrong forum.

It's pretty dull for a supercar. It's very 'Mclaren'.............dull. Good no doubt, but dull.In what fked up universe of petrolhead-ism is a 720hp convertible supercar that is faster than pretty much anything else on the roads boring?!
