Cool car. But £90k?
In fairness, you get TWO cars, or just over 7% of total production.
I think that’s each.

Also, have a look at what a standard Cooper S sells for.
I'd put money it'll go north of £100k with it's rarity and race pedigree.

A rot box '64 Cooper S sold for £20k very recently.

Restored early Cooper S' are fetching £45k+ depending on the car and it's history.
If you would put money on it...why don't you put £90k on it?

More aerodynamic and lighter it may be , but I highly doubt it would achieve 140 - those wheels are tiny wheels and with the low gearing, I don't think it would be possible, with the still relatively low output.

having owned a Mini with a tweaked 1275 back in the mid 90s it would take balls of gigantic proportions to attempt anywhere near 140 in one.

I agree. I had a 1380cc with all the common mods. Anything over 100mph was utterly terrifying. Every bump would have the car skittering across the road and it felt like bits of it were about to blow off. You can feel the air pushing against it in an almost visceral way.

I concur. I race in the Masters series against many decent historic Minis, some run with an unlimited budget and they are surprisingly quick, but I believe struggle to get past around 125mph. At some of the longer circuits like Silverstone or Dijon, they seem to hit terminal velocity about half way down the straights.

Does anyone know where the GRP bit is joined to the metal bit? Is it the whole roof or is there some sort of horrendous join filled with body filler?

Fantastic. When I was 15 and 16 I was a Saturday kid, plus school holidays, at a little tuning company called AVJ Developments in Worcestershire. The owner was a guy called Tony Jones, who was Broadspeed's chief engine man throughout the '60s. Sadly Tony was suffering from MS when I was there ('88/'89) and was gradually winding the business down, but the stories and anecdotes of the old days - including some tales about the development of this car - will live with me forever.

I got to help work on Aston Martins, old Porsches, many Group 4 Escort MK2 rally cars and even things like Audi Quattros. As a start point in my own life in motorsport I couldn't have asked for a better mentor or experience.
Are you Roger ? I'm Tony's Son

Hi. No I'm not (I was long after Roger Nevitt's time) but I've seen your PM and I will reply in the next day or so. Got a bit on at the moment as I'm about to head to South Africa for a race.
