Since a kid I've been a Porsche fan. Love the 928, 944, 968 and boxter.
The 911 was OK but didn't really do it for me. However in the 80's and 90's it was special when one was spotted. Big arches Big fin!
My friend paid over £100K for a new one of these 2 years ago. He couldn't understand why no one was paying attention to it at a car meet last year.
There everywhere and I cant tell the difference between this one and the one before. NO ONE CARES ANYMORE
I wouldn’t say no one cares. A bogo C2 May blend in but a GT car is very special. The targa is very nice too. The 911 was OK but didn't really do it for me. However in the 80's and 90's it was special when one was spotted. Big arches Big fin!

He bought it for the wrong reason and wasted over 100k.In HK my girlfriend and I play a game; "Porsche-buggy-punch"
When you see a Porsche - you call "Porsche-buggy *colour*" and punch the other.
Every other car is a Porsche. They're not special in that sense. Mind you here very little is.
What they are - is bloody brilliant cars. Still an aspirational one for me and I regularly kick myself for buying a Chimaera and not a 997 because it had 'more personality'.
It sure did, but that personality turned out to be 'd***head'

A Carrera S will now have the same horsepower as the 996 turbo...nuts.

Totally agree. I regularly pass a Porsche dealership and I drawn in last summer by a GT3 RS parked in the window. I looked around the showroom and was thinking that a C2S might be a good replacement for my 1M, but then when I went back outside there were a couple of 'Porsche guys' wanting to look around the car. We got chatting, I took them for a drive and the car put a huge smile on their faces. I really want to like the new Porsche stuff (991, 992) but aside from the GT models, which don't work for me practically, the other stuff leaves me a bit cold. It's just too competent and clinical somehow. Having said that, there was C2 GTS in black with black wheels with a manual gear box that had me doing the man maths, but at £110k used it's way more than I can afford.
The interior is getting very 'Lexus' which is no bad thing imo. The initial photos all look very uninspiring but then again most manufacturers these days seem unable to take a decent 'real' photo. The general consensus on social media from people at the launch seem to say it's much much better in person.
Love a 911 and this looks really nice. If I didn't need to transport a load of people/objects most of the time then yes I would probably buy one - probably a slightly older 997.2 though.
That said are 911's really seen as drivers cars anymore? Despite seeing loads around daily, can't remember the last time I saw a 911 being driven with any sort of conviction, normally just trundling along with other traffic even if road conditions allow for a much better rate of progress being made. All the tech and different driver modes would suggest it is perhaps appealing to a different sector. Do we really need multiple driver modes? Why not just set a car up right in the first place?
