Assuming Cargurus will read this, I'm happy to share my thoughts:

1. The PistonHeads brand. It's not kept up with audiences (the market).
It just won't work and I'll tell you why.
Apologies in advance for shortening our posts... I think you explain the point well, but not maybe the way you expected.

Piston Heads (as supported by Google data) is already not working. In fact the data suggests it's dying. I stand by the feedback based upon PH keeping audiences and attracting new ones.

How is search interest indicative of anything? According to that, BBC Online must be fked.

Agh, I hate tricky maths.
How was lunch at the cosey club?, it looks like i am being dragged to leicester for our annual traipse through the gutter.

Is it still ok for lunch?

btw the answer you're looking for is zero
There's a risk of appearing ungrateful here, and I don't want to do that because I value recommendations from PHers, which as a rule are very good. But there are exceptions to every rule.

It wasn't cosy and it isn't a club. They allowed me in without hesitation, which evidences entry requirements too low for any genuine club.

It was staffed by butch looking, nose ring wearing, waitresses in dungarees, for whom smiling was just too big a deal.

I ordered steak which may have been an error because I can imagine the staff holds the view that, "meat is murder". They had certainly murdered my steak, having prepared it only by removing the polythene and throwing it briefly into a flat pan. I could more easily have used it to re-sole my shoes than eat it, and the soles of my shoes would probably have tasted better.

My wife ordered something veggie, which was also oddly lacklustre.

The other diners comprised a sad-looking early Christmas party, who had long since given up on life.

Only the wine got me through the ordeal, which I had to fetch myself from the bar. Even once there, I had to wait for the barman to finish his conversation with a waitress before I was served.

We went to Carluccios for a second lunch about an hour and a half later.

It i probably entirely different at the weekend, when semi-naked ex-models serve haute cuisine. Probably.

But thank you for the maths tuition - do you do home tutoring?
Well its gone down hill from a year ago, sorry to hear your lunch was rubbish.
The maths answer my fault I forgot the smiley
As I said, I don’t mean to appear ungrateful. Suggestions are always appreciated.

For what it is worth the other place suggested was next door. There were two elderly people in there, one of whom might have been dismantling his hearing aid on the table.

I think the key learning point was, if you’re in Leicester midweek go for a chain and as near to the Highcross as possible.

The shops were also empty. In fact it was a bleak day.
And that's why i only allow swimbo to drag me there once a year it truly is a cesspit.

The charm of this forum is due to exactly what it is. Change it and people will disappear in droves.

A few years ago I played a niche flight sim but the forum was the most diverse, interesting and busy places online. Ubisoft decided to meddle with it and it changed overnight.

I hope we do all have somewhere to migrate to when CG fk us over. Blatters would have been perfect if it was timed right.

Unless they offer some kind of subscription with a few perks (ad free browsing etc) I can see the forums closing. They won't be making money and the Americans likely won't understand what makes the forum appealing.

Maintaining the forums will be a ballache too. It's pretty old software and probably isn't well documented.

Us old timers are going to have to keep an eye on exchange rates and stuff now, assuming the Pay Per Post scheme will now be paid out in dollars?

This^^

When Haymarket took over Garlic explained in great detail how much they believed in and wanted to maintain the PetrolTed PH philosophy. They didn't understand it and although PH survived that transition it did so by appealing to a new audience which shifted the content focus from motoring to social. I now hide away in the TVR forums, I no longer feel welcome anywhere else

I can not see the forum getting axed anytime soon.. the sheer amount of internet traffic this forum brings to PH is not something they will want to lose, I have no idea on numbers but I imagine the amount of people using this forum daily is quite significant plus they will be making money from all the sodding Ad's that are on here these days!

If CG are daft enough to ditch the forum then PetrolTed may yet be our saviour. According to his website he’s working on something to carry on where Blatters left off. Hopefully he’ll revert to a more conventional format as I and many others found Blatters to be very awkward to use.

Because I joined late, I went into a Pay per Post deal that was in dollars. Zimbabwean Dollars, unfortunately.

It's much better than it used to be, since they redid all the Highcross side of things. Still plenty of grotty corners to find though.

We should prepare to be monitised. I don't known exactly how many registered users the site has but that and all the posts made is a data miners wet dream.

Whether the new owners will invest and allow the forum to thrive or let it wither and disappear I don't know but suspect it will continue with a different set of gripes.

I don't know how it will turn but time will tell.

This is by far the least sophisticated web forum out there at the moment.

Any change is going to be positive really.....how could they possibly make it worse???????

Regardless of buyer there will always be someone like you on the forum who feels the need to be 'that guy'.
