It looks like James Drake is going to be involved again, which should be a good thing.

Can we expect an official announcement and introduction at some point soon?

Given how long it is taking for pages to load, then have Haymarket kept half the hamsters as part of the deal?

I bloody hope not. There was only one to begin with!

And he only had three legs...

And a hacking cough.

I’m fairly certain the white cane he had wasn’t just for show either...

Went on CG to look for a car for the missus.

Every bleeding site I visit is now like a fairground sponsored by said people. Highly irritating.

Cue the 'you need an adblocker' links...

Just checked on there and every car I clicked on, about 15 in total, was listed as a CAT S or Cat N by CG.

Maybe it's a problem with the website, but seems a bit of a coincidence.

They seem to be recruiting for software developers too. This does sound more positive than Haymarket.

Blimey. That does sound encouraging.

Fingers crossed though - they could yet ditch the forums. Especially once they look at the code.

Doubt that, the poor bugger tasked with working with the code is unlikely to get that much say, even if they haven't looked at it as part of due diligence.

So Haymarket sold ph to CarGurus but Haymarket are being left in charge and given more money by CarGurus to run it?

Does this make sense?

If Haymarket weren’t willing to spend money on the forums before and brought in all that rubbish advertising, how are they going to make it any more profitable for CarGurus?

No.

Why do you suppose Haymarket are in charge?

Well, just because jack Mansfield that ran it before, said on website feedback, they’re getting more funds for fixing stuff and they’re hiring more boffins.

Which made me think he was going to still be running it and he was from Haymarket, I thought.

Obviously I might be completely wrong but that’s what I was asking and saying it seemed odd.

Jack was referring to the new arrangements under CG. These do not involve Haymarket.

So he’s not in charge?

He’s just passing on the info that CarGurus are in charge and are spending some money and their own developers are going to be fixing it but as yet none have made themselves known to us?

I suspect CG have bought/retained the Haymarket/PistonHeads staffers that were directly involved with PistonHeads.

So same faces but no longer working under the Haymarket group.
