This will be a fab car. When he was last looking for a car I had a go in a Macan Turbo and it was bloody rapid. I'd think the 2.0 is more than adequate for the majority, along with good running costs. I'm sure the 2.0 will become the new Diesel model.

Just been having a quick look in the classifieds, I couldn't believe how well these hold their value. Even taking into account a trader's cut and the cost of options, they still seemed to show at least 70% retained value after 3 years.

70% of the list price, or 70% of the fully optioned up price - suspect its the former

Had a look at Macans earlier on AT to see if the facelift is out yet in the UK and the most expensive one is a 2.0 for 72 grand !!! There’s also a turbo on there with halogen lights and 18 inch alloys. Only with Porsche’s do you get to see some bizarre specs.

Good to see petrol engines making a comeback. Also 0-60 in 6.7 and 139 mph is more than fast enough for most people.
True but I'd want a V6 under the bonnet in my c£50K Porsche SUV.
More like 55k and compared to an evoque it’s good value.

Yep Cambridge Porsche had three stock cars coming in. My customer took the white one which I’m detailing Friday and delivering to him

I think it’s a brilliant move by VW! The 2.0 will be perfect as diesels are probably not as popular, will suit the yummy mummy’s performance needs for the ones that can’t afford a Cayenne. It will be very popular and with kinder mpg. For the PH out there... plenty of more performance in the form of the V6 or Turbo models. I think it’s a great move and will banalize the badge (more) but it will be very profitable.

I think the Macan was a good car, just right in size and performance for the SUV crowd. Like a Tiguan but more exclusive.

My Macan S comes March, one of the first 5 at my local dealer. I wanted a turbo but no confirmation on when they'll be available.

I'm coming from a 2017 S5. I've driven a Macan S pre face lift. Yeah not as quick as an S5 but handles better. Struggled to get understeer on roundabouts that i know my S5 understeers on.
There's a video on you tube of a macan turbo vs BMW m2. You'll be surprised at how close they are. So wouldn't knock em till you try them.
Honestly unbelievable piece of engineering, got to be the only SUV with fatter rear tyres than the fronts... wink

I'm still confused to why the 2.0 car is heavier than the 3.0.....

Also i don't know why you wouldn't order an S for the £2,400 more than the 2.0...

Damned by faint praise.

It’s too small for an SUV and the performance is not fit to wear the badge. Image wise, It’s just a WAGs wanna be trinket in these parts.

It it pays the Porsche bills then fine but it’s sad to drive past my local dealer and just see lines of Macan SUVs and little else although south east london is particularly bad for numbers of SUVs in general it does not look like Sidcup porsche OPC sell much else.

At least give the base Macan the engine out of the Boxster/Cayman and it call it fit to wear to the badge.

This base Macan would be like walking in to buy an iphone and buying the one with the crap camera and screen but hey it’s got the badge, it’s cheap and it sells.

First, I am sorry you took offence. It was a general comment so I don’t know why you got your knickers on a twist. Certainly a lot of buyers will buy it because it’s what they want. Like you. Nothing wrong with that.
Others will buy it because they can afford a Cayenne.

Nothing wrong with either! Enjoy your Macan!

As I say I took some account, cars were advertised at £36k, so assumed £44k say plus 3k options, plus say 3k trader profit. The point still stands that they're bloody good residuals - best mass-produced car in the market?

Slightly awkward for the Porsche driver when an Ateca Cupra creams this off the line. But otherwise, 'only' 245bhp is still enough to see off most small SUVs on the school run which is all that matters.
It's not just being out performed by the Cupra Ateca, it's being under cut by £10K to boot - I think this would be a very interesting twin test.
