Curious really, I saw it mentioned on the AM Zagatto thread that (paraphrasing) "...the interior was a rank colour..." and some friends of mine are the same. Brown/tan interior??? fk no! 'Orrible!

Personally I love brown/tan and would have this over black in an instant not to mention oyster/parchment to name but 2 others.

Why the lack of love?

I have never noticed a hatred for tan interiors. Personally on the right car I am a big fan. I always wanted a tan interior on my 5 series. And if I was to ever get a Alfa 159, it would have to be red with a tan interior.

On the other hand I wouldn't want tan leather in say a ford focus.

Not sure there is that much dislike. As said, in the right car it looks great. Works well with darker exterior colours. Black interiors are just...black. At least with brown or tan you can get loads of different shades. I suspect if there's a reluctance to go for tan it's simply a fear (rational or not) of making the car harder to sell.

Now white...don't get me started. Would never choose that for plonking my substantial arse on inside a car.

Love a tan interior. Goes beautifully with BRG or dark blue exterior. So much nicer than black.

Sort of regret not buying a dark blue Alfa GTV V6 with gorgeous tan interior. I'm not normally that bothered by colour combinations but it just looked soooo right on that car.

Boxsters look so much better with a Tan interior

There was a 911 knocking about on ebay for a while with a green leather interior. I thought it looked good but I can imagine many don't

Not a fan of tan.

I once went from Kent to Exeter to see a dealer P38. When I arrived the dealer was waiting, with the car, which had tan interior, even though he'd confirmed it was grey.

I ripped him a new asshole, got him to drop me at the train station and got a train back to Kent, sans car.

We now own a Smart for 2. It's a Ltd2 special edition and comes with Ferrari Tan leather which I love and is a talking point.

Go figure.

I think it depends on the car.... Were I ever to buy a Ferrari, I think tan looks perfect. But tan in a Range Rover (for example) wouldn't work.

No dislike from me. I've had tan, blue and brown, and brown (or saddle as BMW called it) on past cars. Now on a silvery grey colour.

In the right kind of car I think tan or brown leather can look really good. I suppose I consider it to be quite an old school look so on a car that suits it, it gets the thumbs up from me. smile

I love the tan in my MK3 MX5 but appreciate it's an acquired taste. On the American forums they refer to it as the basketball interior.

I just don't like leather interiors! So I don't care what colour it is, I won't like it. I just can't stand the smell of the stuff or the feel of it.

I liked the tan interior in the Fiat 124 Spider but when the Mrs saw it her first comment was "Urr, dog doo". Somehow that ruined it for me so I went for black when I got mine.

I really wanted this when I was looking for the car about 4 years ago, unfortunately rare as hens teeth as most people specced the no-cost option which was unsurprisingly black. Never found the tan option but did eventually find one with a white leather option.

I think in the UK most people are boring, so boring interiors are the norm.... and hence anything interesting is usually touted as horrific or some other nonsense.

Me too......but I'm old so remember when it was commonplace and we all lived in a brightly coloured world, unlike todays drab monochrome obsessed society.

That's why my choice for my X5 interior was Amaro Brown smile

If they have brown / tan / beige seats and door trim inserts and black plastics it looks good.

If however it is a 2000s era Merc with different shades of brown it looks grim - like sitting in a used nappy.

I like some tan interiors. The Italians seem to do it well in blue and red cars. I'm thinking Alfa's and Ferrari's. Other manufacturers not so well. I've seen some I really dislike in MB's, BMW's & Porsches. In fact German leather can be all sorts of wrong. As can some of the "wood" that they offer

My general preference is for black interiors in light coloured cars and light interiors in dark coloured cars.

You can get some beautiful pale leather in Jag's, RR's and Merc's to name but three.

My C43's had silvery/white panels in the centres of the seats. My current E Class has very pale grey leather & door panels which I think looks great against the midnight blue metallic.

Jag do similar things with black, dark blue and dark green cars.

How is one comment on the Zegatto thread an indication of “so much dislike”?

Mazda are now going dark brown leather on nearly all of the GT Sport top of the range models, including the new CX-5 arriving in March.
