2010 Audi s3 - break-in
Discussion
Curious to know if this is experienced by other S3 owners (or other makes):
Despite being parked and locked securely, my car has clearly had someone gain entry while parked at home, at least twice. There is absolutely no evidence of break-in, the keys are secure in my home, the car does not indicate alarm activated, neighbours have not heard alarm and I don't believe I live in a 'problem' area. If it wasn't for the glove box being left open, with contents strewn around, coins removed and a cigarette lighter appearing (presumably dropped) I wouldn't have known. Fortunately, I use a steering lock bar, else maybe car would have been stolen.
Is it known that this car has a security weakness that can be exploited? Or are there known techniques that any would be thief can use on any car?
Grateful for any responses.

Thanks for reading.
Not a keyless entry, just a regular key/keyfob with lock/unlock buttons. I have both keys, regularly swap their use. Is it true what I have gleamed from internet that the remote lock/unlock code can be scanned?

Yes, that's my understanding too although it does seem odd they've not nicked the car? Maybe suggests they're small time nippers after cash but then again, scanning a fob seems a lot effort for just cash. Not a keyless entry, just a regular key/keyfob with lock/unlock buttons. Do keep us updated, will be interesting to read how this progresses.
Re the alarm not activating....
When you lock the doors, are you pressing the lock button once or twice? On many VAG cars, if they have interior sensors, the 2nd press within 2 seconds disables the interior sensors and tilt switch. Yes, I know that the door opening should also activate the alarm but there may be another issue that stops that.
Enable chirp on lock/unlock if you can, your then sure that the car is locked as you leave it.

Have you checked to make sure all your doors actually lock?
Common fault on VAG door lock modules failing either permanently locked or permanently open.
Lock the car and then see if any doors still open. If you or someone you know has access to VCDS, maybe run a quick scan as they could flag up a problematic door lock
Cheers
