By heck, that’s no looker.
The design accentuates height, which is an odd philosophy for a sports car. Sorry, a dull comment, unlike some of the previous posts which made me laugh - keep up the good work!

Looks like a humpback whale. That rear looks bad. The difference in colour between the body and the soft top is extenuating the hump.
Might be okay all in black.

Rear deck and window is a mess of proportions. Way way to high and pinched, whilst the window shape has no relationship to the panels around it.

Vs the 718 Boxster it's a whale

I thought it looked bad then I looked up images of the 991 Cab and realised it's the same

And I quite like the proportions of the 991 Cab. Who knew. getmecoat

IMO if you want a convertible Porsche, buy a Boxster. It's as simple as that.

I'm just here to re-iterate that the 911 is now a GT car rather than a sports car and this design just continues to prove the point.

Want a sports car, buy a Cayman or Boxster.

I'm not normally one to trot out the clichéd and ignorant "just a glorified Beetle" line - but when I saw that front view of the green one on the homepage, that's exactly what I thought it was..
I’m with you there, the most beetle-esque 911 for ages.

You’d have to go back a long way to find those qualities in German car design and even then you’d be lucky.

+1 We're losing / have lost, at least aesethically, the essence of a 911. Where will the bloated up, supersizing of each new generation end (in every car segment) ? Is it regs, or is this what the public actuallly want?

A 996 gen car is looking pretty attractive ...

I see the 992 as more of a 928 concept. I won’t try and defend the aesthetics of the 992 as a 911 because it’s a hollow arguement.

The main reason the 992 looks like it does can be traced all the way back to 2009 and decision by Porsche to go after the GT-R using the 911 and not creating a real 928 replacement.

As for whether the car is worth £90k over a 996 i would suspect that as a whole package that from the drivers seat, the 992 will make the 996 feel like an outdated relic. That said, i would not be able to drive a £120k 992 down most welsh roads without breaking into a cold sweat.

What a messy looking thing not that it matters for the blinkered for whom the image & badge is all that matters.
Colours do seem odd & coloured fabric roofs always very after-market looking.
The Targa is so much more elegant, although I gather very blustery with the roof panel stowed.

Was a lithe and delicate thing, admired and desired by many. Then appeared to go on a cake and prosecco diet, followed by a fatal visit for enhancement surgery with Dr Bumbum.
Perhaps the design committee need to be in the same building for the replacement 9xx.

'Spied' eh? One is bright fking green and the other has a bright red roof. The only way to make them more obvious to the waiting press would have been putting the red roof on the green car.

All this 'spy' song and dance is a bit tired.
LOL so true. You’d have thought they’d have used a black car with a black roof if they didn’t want the paps following. They’re not stupid, so we can only guess they wanted the photos out now the cars are running round with no camo.
