Keep doing what you are doing Porsche - making my old 996 cab look more attractive on each new model launch.😜

They used to say that Aston Martins were stuck with designs that looked too similar but Porsche seem to have run out of ideas with the 911.

Time to be a bit braver and break away from what is now looking like a tired design. It's also rather a big car now which doesn't help.

That fat arse. Honestly theres no sculpture to it, its just overly big, no haunches, the grill and whatever is going on above the licence plate..?

Then the exhaust placement, nope nope nope, either wide or centrally, what it looks like when placed in that mid position just accentuates its porkiness.

Rear deck and window is a mess of proportions. Way way to high and pinched.
I am going to take a stab at explaining why this has happened.

Possible reason for higher slope and hunch - They have moved the intercoolers on the 992 to the top of the engine bay:

The above is a rear-view cut-out of a 992 Coupe, where the Porsche man's arm and hand are pointing to is a new location for intercoolers, directly behind the rear parcel shelf in the interior. The Porsche engineer explains the new location on the Autogefuhl video on youtube.

Many thanks to Autogefuhl for the informative video.

The design change to move the exhausts further into the middle apparently was done to help protect the new particle filter (not present in the 991 and weighs 7.5kg or about 16.5 pounds) and manifold in the event of a collision from the side plus help with the exhaust note of the engine now that it will be muffled slightly by the particle filter and the turbo.

The jist from what I have picked up from the information people have talked about is that whole exhaust manifold and particle system is now quite complex and thus expensive to fix/replace in the event of damage occurring.

Bit unfair. Some bathtubs are really quite nice.

"Spied" testing

Hey, what colour will we paint these prototypes/test mules that we don't want anyone to notice? Bright green?

Yeah.
