Probably not wind up someone with obvious mental health issues in the first place.

Contact police right away - surprised anyone would need to ask.

Bladed article in public is a very serious offence - threatening with bladed article is Crown Court and a second conviction for offensive weapon/bladed article is 6 months minimum.

I'd have called the police. He needs locking up and/or help with his mental issues.

They handled it well. Tried talking to him, tried warning him off, then got the hell out of Dodge when they realised he was clearly somewhat unhinged and genuinely dangerous.

I'd be interested to know how this ended, though I suspect the slap on the wrist the offender would likely get would only boil my piss.

They did better, they got it onto Facebook for the weekend which means it will be daily mail fodder by Monday and BBCNews by Tuesday. Police will see it some time in January.

We need more guns!

Jokes aside, this is truly shocking. If that workman had actually gotten out that van who knows what could have happened. We need harsher sentencing (and more mental health services investment) for blokes like that. Ticking time bomb.

I the guys in the van were packing - maybe a nice compact 45, there would have been no issues.
