Ideal for someone who really wants a 'new' early-shape E34.

M50 is a good engine.

These cars are generally solid, but I agree, will need some £££ spent to put them back on the road.

Not being an 'M' car or the 525i / 535i 'Sport' models, they are not not necessarily that desirable, however good a car they may be.

If these were cheap enough I'd be interested in having one and put a 335i engine in and build up a quick road alternative to a genuine M5, LHD wouldn't bother me.

I loved my old M5 3.5 and for such a big car it was so easy to throw it around, never felt like a big car, due to ever increasing prices and rust problems I wouldn't bother with another, but would be fun to build up a 'modern' alternative.

Would be hard to pay more than £5k for one of these old base models, its the rust free factor that makes these desirable.

miss my old one sold for £4k.

Quite an interesting story, but 15k EUR is strong money. No, sorry, it's mental money. You'd have to really LOVE an E34 to pay that for something you're probably going to end up spending the same on in order to get it to good condition again. Then there's the fact that, once you've done that, it isn't original anymore, so you might as well have started with any other E34.

Like I said, an interesting story, and I am sure the classic car market will mean people will go mental for them, but they're just knackered old beemers to these eyes.
