That is lovely ...Just looks not quite right, like those £5-10k replica kits to me. You'd half expect to find an MX5 or a Sierra underneath. Styling just looks odd.
I'm not sure who would buy one of these when the same outlay gets you a nice original, plus the 1er as a daily, and enough change to put in the bank to run them both for a decade.

Quite possibly the worst thing I have ever seen. I love the simplicity of the -02 shape: this misses the point by a mile. It would need to be scaled up by ~50% to allow for the ridiculously high waistline.
I'm no fan of the 1-Series, but I'd prefer that over this.
The waistline as noted above is the key issue here. '02s has a low waistline, relatively upright windscreen and large glass area - all fairly typical of the era in which they are designed. This is just a modern car onto which they've grafted the 02 front and rear lights - quite pointless.I'm no fan of the 1-Series, but I'd prefer that over this.

I'm always amazed that there's people out there who have enough money to follow this sort of venture through?
In order to do so they must have a brain and be pretty intelligent and yet at no point does it recognise or tell them that their creation is a fecking disaster....
A really tasteful, sympathetically upgraded 2002 restomod could be superb. Shame this isn't.

I'm afraid it doesn't work for me. Surfacing combined with style reminds me of the MG RV8 - uncomfortable mix of old and new, when it would look better as either but not both. I don't think the original 2002 is a particularly great looking car either but this looks like a kit car from 1998.
Well I'm not against the idea of this in principle as such but the 1 series doesn't really have the right kind of proportions to make for an authentic look. I've a 120d for the other half to drive and it's a bit ungainly, not the best base for this kind of conversion, maybe a e36/46 rag top would be better?
Giving a modern car a more retro look can be fun, this muscle car-esque rocket bunny kit for the S14 is certainly more appealing to me...
