I thought it looked horrible in pictures but saw one for the first time this morning and it actually looked really nice, it was about 8:00 and my eyes weren't fully awake yet and it was fairly dark but certainly looked nice at the time.

What position are you gutted about? A position of more sales success and profitability than ever before? A position of happy customers? Do you think they should be run as a charity? Or how about just badly as a business making horribly uncomfortable cars, like they were in the 70s, 80s and 90s? I guess you'd not be as gutted if Lamborghini ceased to exist had VW not bought them from Mycom Setdco and V'Power back in the 90s then, right? rolleyes

Why should Lamborghini only offer sports cars? Why not an SUV? Considering they first made their name making tractors (not cars), your mentality on this makes zero sense.

You can always still buy an Aventador or a Hurucan if you don't like the Urus. Choice is a good thing and the Urus doesn't lessen the relevance or desirability of the other two. If you think otherwise, you really need to ask yourself if their tractors detract from the super cars and if not, why does an SUV gives you cause for such cognitive dissonance?

I saw one in the wild for the first time the other day. Was at the airport. I thought it looked really great!

I have a theory that SUVs are the new GTs. Performance figures that would be dragster worthy can now pedal two tonners with ease and modern tyre and suspension technology keep it all out of the hedgerows. Add some practicality and continent crushing comfort and you have a GT on stilts. Saw an Urus pull away from Graypaul Edinburgh with intent. Made a great noise and shifted appropriately. Not for me but it is for someone. Every SUV I have driven feels like the chassis is 10 inches further away than items should be ( because it is).

SUV’s are b0110ck5, the Urus looks like video game cr@p. But yet it needs a pick up brother with two rear axles, raised suspension and more horsies.

Every time I look at Urus I get a feeling they forgot to install the front bumper.

If it was all-electric he'd love it.

It's funny, people keep saying Lambo are now rubbish, nothing like the good old days when they had the Countach....yet so many people who have driven one say they're a right PIA.....James May absolutely hated it. Now they make exciting cars which are usable. Anyone who doesn't think a Huracan Performante isn't a "proper" supercar needs their head looking at IMO.

Excitiing though? Not so sure. VAG re-dresses Q7 into every brand their own and it does sell well, I'll give them that, but to say they are "exciting"? No sure on this one.

(yes I'm aware that they've put a bijillion horse power under the bonnet to make is schnell in a straight line)

Let's not forget that Enzo ONLY made and sold road going Ferraris to fund the racing cars. Not really much difference is there?

They are everywhere! Seen about 6 around my way, including that hideous green chrome wrapped one by Yiannimize (sp?).

Looks nice in dark blue, and breaks up the tons of RR sports and G wagons that every other rich WAG drives.

There are lots of people that are rich enough to afford an Aventador, but wouldn't be able to drive it most of the time due to the need for more seats, ground clearance etc. Why wouldn't a company that exists to sell as many cars as possible (I assume that must be part of their sales and marketing strategy) take advantage of that market and why would someone whom can afford a Lambo, Ferrari or Bentley etc. buy something much cheaper? This market clearly exists and doesn't look like getting smaller. It's bizarre that people still think that car makers aren't going to or shouldn't go into this sector. Probably all but the very small manufacturers will follow suit in the very short term and these sales figures make it a total no-brainer.

We need to get used to it. We also need to accept, that if we were rich enough, we would also probably buy one too if we needed daily practicality. I also don't understand why rich people have bad taste and poorer people have good taste? Seems a little subjective to me.

Buying a 2 seater Lamborghini;

"Did you know we now sell a 4/5 seater for daily use?"
"No I did not, I'll take one for the family car."

2 sales instead of 1, which now funds the development of even better "proper" Lamborghinis, win-win.

So you're saying a Performante is a Q7 in another dress? ;-) An Urus is actually quite an exciting car to drive, more so than my Cayenne - things are relative. But my Huracan is of course more exciting and exciting in a different way. And more exciting that 99% of things on the road.

It's also been said on here earlier, but an Urus really is not a Q7 in another dress. Really, the commonality of parts is incredibly low. But we shouldn't let facts get in the way, of course.

For some reason they look better in the metal than in photographs. I saw a black one near my office the other day, and as much as it pains me to admit it, it looked great!

Had a German Plated Gold Wrapped one come up behind me before Xmas on the M25, thought it was some sort of renault with all the mesh front.

To me, it definitely looks better in pics than the flesh but if you sit inside it, who cares what the outside looks like

Exactly... it’s a means to an end. If you can sell loads of these to do more of that, why not.

I'm sure Lamborghini are far more bothered about their overflowing order books than the opinion of those of us who had Countach posters on their bedroom walls but drive sub £50k cars. Might be brand 'dilution' (as another poster said, they should go back to tractors laugh) but its keeping the company going.

I'm a massive Lambo fanboy, I really wanted to hate the Urus, but having seen one last year in Giallo Auge (Boom Yellow) I'm afraid I'm a sell out. If only selling out got me the £200k to buy one. Anyway, it looks batst crazy, has massive road presence and turns heads. Textbook Lambo IMO biggrin

The depressing thing about the Urus is that it does reflect what people want: and people will walk past a better car to buy the biggest, brashest, most over-bearing thing they can find.

I doubt there'd be any detractors if Lamborghini had put the Estoque into production. That was a genuinely beautiful looking car, and would have been much more of a lamborghini with a V10 engine and styling much closer to the rest of the range. Compared to the Urus, the Estoque would have been faster and probably more efficient, as well as handling better, looking better, and probably would have been more spacious too.

However, the Estoque would have required more money to develop as it would have needed a bespoke platform. Why bother doing that when you can cheaply plonk a few angular body panels on an Audi Q8 and people will walk past the better car to sit in something that's bigger and brasher?
