RE: Behold the new Toyota Supra!

What is it with designers these days? have they totally lost the ability to make a good looking car!
Actually, yes they have. I think it might even be Harry Metcalfe who said car designers only really get anything approaching free reign when it comes to the back of a car now. The front end is so heavily legislated, then manufacturing realities are so strict, that they don't have the crazy freedom they once did.I need to see this car in the flesh before I call judgement on it. I'm rather disappointed (albeit not surprised) that the engine's numbers are quite so close to the BMW version. It does beg the question, what is actually different, if anything - from the BM version.
It has been tuned, says Toyota, to offer ‘segment-leading’ torque performance from very low revs.
Maximum 362lb ft of torque available between 1600-4500rpm
52lb ft more torque than the 310lb ft the Porsche 718 Cayman S produces between 2100-4500rpm
Supra is 0.3sec quicker from 0-62mph
The 335bhp developed by the GR Supra’s engine is 10bhp down on the 718 Cayman S
- Autocar
I like its compact dimensions, low weight, low cog, and super high structural integrity (LFA)/cost ratio!
The interior is cool or good enough...
I can see why those who don't like it, don't like it.
If Toyota built everything in house, the price would have been way higher & too much effort for such low volume sales/profits.
It seems like a modern, sporty, GT - Don't forget there will be more powerful 'performance-oriented' variations to come, hopefully with manual transmissions and spoilers .....

After watching the Shmee video.
Its a yes from me!
And stop grumbling over the engine.
Aston Martin use Mercedes Engines
Lamborghini use Audi Engines
Toyota used to have Yamaha assistance with engines.
I see no problem with joint projects like this.
I would very much like to see one in white.

Looks better in video than pictures but looks like a massive front wheel arch gap!
it's impressive that he's built an online brand of himselfhttps://youtu.be/Ka4Vo_ZvUaM

but I must confess that I didn't hear much of the first moments of this video because I couldn't stop laughing
of course it's unsporting of me, but, really, nobody should be working so hard to smile so much like that; it's like something out of Clockwork Orange, the first moments of smiling in that cavernous white studio

Doh!
Looks fantastic in white!
Another one for the list of cars i like but will never afford!
Good looking car, IMO, and I'm a big fan of the B58 engine too.
I would have liked to see them try a bit harder with the interior though. Custom instrument cluster aside, it's a copy and paste BMW job, even down to the look of the iDrive menus. Surely a bit of custom design or reskinning wouldn't have gone amiss.

Hideous, in every colour from every angle.
I thought the same, and to think Toyota teased us with this :-What we wanted:
What we got:
And to think that Toyota made so many great looking cars in the 90's - and still clearly make nice concepts too. The old Supra used to 'wow' as it drove around, I can't imagine this new one will do the same. Maybe the Lexus LFA should have been badged as a Supra.
