McLarens are interesting vehicles though do not get the manufacturers suggested prices. Right now, 720S build slots are available at a discount with waits of only a few months. The market is simply adjusting what they are worth. Try to put an order in for an 812 - it is early impossible. McLarens, despite phenomenal performance, do not offer the magic of other brands.

Price too high IMO.

600LT Coupe with 180 miles is £200k.

675LT Coupe with 6k miles is £200k.

Each to thier own, but Id say that about ferrari tbh. Sure pininfarina can sometimes make a pretty one (current lineup excluded) but im just not impressed at all by their, attitude towards customers & overpriced, out of date, wobbly metal cars.

Long gone are the days when generations of kids could be brainwashed and indoctrinated into loving ferrari the myth, passion, fake news, blah blah. The only "legend" i think of when i think of ferrari is, the fact their drive shafts didnt line up and the cars were so rubbish Lamborghini built his own! The internet is awash with "ferrari suck", "ferrari Press cars", "only idots buy ferraris now", "ferraris are for posers who cant drive", "ferrari edits journos reports/videos" "fake news" Etc Etc.

The reality is McLaren are better. And this is just the start, can you imagine the cars they will be building in 10yrs from now. I cant wait.

If the new Dino is carbon tubbed, thank Mclaren for dragging them out of the stoneage.
Looking at your other posts my mind can’t help think of the recently departed RL. The King is dead, long live the King.....

I'd have one in a heartbeat, epic. But, I think that McLarens steadfast refusal to allow independent garages work on them could be their undoing. Second hand prices seem in freefall and will continue to do so as nobody will want to buy one. The lower end cars need to be moving for new cars to take their place. Criminal as I'd love a 12c and had serious thoughts about one, but,,,,,,

That's just a Ferrari's deliberate strategy to hold down volumes to preserve exclusivity.
If they wanted to make more 812s they could, but it's better business to sell fewer at a higher margin.

to be clear I can't afford a McLaren but if I could it would be a 570 or the like. A 600LT 720s or a senna etc just seem pointless when I would use my supercar to pop to the shops, gym, see my mum etc I just don't see many of these getting used on a track so reality is they are fancy bawbles to show off in but not so rare like a P1 that you can't drive it or affect the value.

Ferrari make less than there is demand for McLaren like porsche create niche cars people want but your left thinking the base car could pretty much do that too.

The LT versions appear to suffer significantly less depreciation than the ‘standard’ models, probably due to the limited production runs on these cars. 675LT is a monster, God only knows what the LT version of the 720 is going to be like, the standard one is already pretty much the fastest car you can buy for less than a million quid.

The original 12C is also now under £100k and unlikely to depreciate a lot more, the well used ones seem more reliable than the garage queens as the hydraulic bits and pieces don’t like sitting around for months on end.

You do know that the "magic" of other brands doesnt physicaly exist and is simply a stack of emotions that you have been convinced to associate with a word?

I was offered a slot to buy one of these. I've not had a McLaren in the past. I declined.

I don't really understand why. I look at it, it looks great (although I'm still not keen on the sports series front end), the numbers are great. But then, I just can't bring myself to buy a McLaren for some reason. I had a 570s Spider on a 3 day test too. Didn't stir me at all. I only have to look at my 458 Spider in the garage and I start grinning. I'm aware it's bizarre. I try, I look at McLarens, and nothing.

It reminds me of a conversation between Rimmer and Lister on Red Dwarf. Rimmer is McLaren, Lister and his sandwich are Ferrari. I'm not saying McLarens are despised by everyone and I'm not having a dig at McLaren (see above) but there is a general kind of 'imperfect but loveable' nature to Ferrari and a 'perfect but unloved' nature about McLarens, bizarre.

RIMMER: I could never invent a sandwich like this, Lister. You see all the ingredients are wrong. The fried eggs: wrong; the chutney:wrong. The chili sauce: all wrong. But put them together and somehow it works. It becomes right. It's you -- this sandwich, Lister, is you.

LISTER: What are you saying to me, Rimmer?

RIMMER: You're wrong, right? All your ingredients are wrong. You're slobby, you've got no sense of discipline, you're the only man ever to get his money back from the Odour Eater people, but people like you, don't you see? That's why you're a fried egg, chili, chutney sandwich. Now me ... now me ... All the ingredients are right. I'm disciplined, I'm organised, I'm dedicated to my career, I've always got a pen. Result? Total smeghead despised by everyone except the ship's parrot. And that's only because we haven't got one. Why? Why is that?

Lol, I post a light hearted, honest, fair and even handed comment about McLarens and how I feel about them along with a bit of comedy and you post a tirade of rubbish, insults and defensive aggression. Why so defensive? Are you concerned your McLaren isnt the car you want it to be because some people don't buy them? Do you even own a McLaren?

You sir, are a numpty.

Does he actually own one?

He's another one of those vociferous posters who slate other members choice of vehicle(s) with none of their own listed in their profile.

I notice when Porsche or Ferrari launch a new limited car PH explodes with comments from those lucky enough to order one and those who wish they could.

I see none of that here........

Also FWIW, of the 2 new cars revealed today the BMW 7 series currently has 100 comments and this only has 35. Are we all just a little fatigued with McLaren’s marketing?

confused

I am not surprised that the car exists, however I am surprised at the timing.

The last I checked McLaren were struggling to fulfill all the slots for the 600LT Coupe, people had already begun to try and flip early ones for a profit (which will not work when you can walk into a dealer and get a slot).

I expect a lot of dealers are going to have angry customers who've ordered the Coupe wanting to know when they can change their build slot.

The 720S is the same thing, McLaren should have been throttling down production of the Coupe a long time ago, but dealers are overflowing with the things. Prices have fallen dramatically and that's not going to help Spider sales as you expect most of those would come from coupe owners, however they may not want to change when they find out what their PX price is!

I love McLaren cars, haven't driven many but had a great time when I have. I don't understand the company though.
