Does the gear selector not bother anyone else?

I really enjoyed the solid clunk of the previous PDK selector, this doesn't look as satisfying. Perhaps an odd thing to complain about.
It looks like a small '80s electric razor - I'm a manual person & too poor to afford one, so it doesn't really matter what I think in the grand scheme of things.

Sooner or later their size will make a T version impossible, I think the 991.2 T will be increasingly harder to replace.
are you joking? the T version is the easiest version to make, just remove satnav/stereo, add fabric door handles, make a couple of options compulsory, optional rear seat delete and decals. "lightweight and driver focused"
Forgive me, wasn’t clear. What’s the point of a lightweight and driver focused car that’s too big to thread down a country road on a Sunday morning........

Panamera T anyone?

amazing how 1600kgs (with a driver) & 450bhp now equates to 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds,, seems odd.
The F40 was 478 bhp, 1369 kg and did 0-62 in 4.7.

Shows the benefit of improved traction off the line from all the modern tech?
Tyres, rapid auto box, launch mode etc, its repeatable and doesn't have anywhere the same driver involvement, still pretty vivid though.

Thought the F40 just nudged under 4 secs though ?
You're right Jacko. Quoted anywhere between 3.7 - 4.1 secs.

Fine looking car. Personally I think the best looking 911 since the first.

I just specced one of these up on the configurator, £117k and it wasn't stupidly specced. Still, even at £117k it would be more than a match for a £120k AM Vantage I should think smile

Mr Harris reckons on his Top Gear video that the 992 is still a sports car.

Does the raised spoiler obscure the third brake light? How does it work?
Pretty sure the 3rd brake light, which is a complete "bar" across the car, sits JUST below the spoiler; it won't be obscured by the rear wing.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the finance like on something like this? I'm sure the man-maths can make it good value.....
Just over £1k a month over 48 months with £15k down, £48k at the end, but should be worth north of £65k so they can tempt you with a 992.2.... I was quoted on 991.2 figures as 992 finance not released yet. OPC reckoned 992 residuals would be better. Sub £1k would help justify man maths to mrs dgswk. We'll see.

The third brake light is definitely above it in the black section. The designer at Porsche goes to great lengths to explain how wunderbar it is.

I was skeptical at first but this has to be the best looking 911 in years!

I'd have a base spec Carrera 2wd in the red as featured in the photos and light interior.

A splash of aluminium trim and a sports exhaust (ventilated seats if available).

You can keep the rest.

Amazing what a bit of better photography can do. I had thought they had dropped one slightly in the looks department with this version, but no.

It’s the same engine size and output of a M3 CP and I miss the day when they were rivals. £100k + is quite a lot for the “run of the mill” version.
The 911 was always a step up in money from an M3, I paid 39k for a new 420hp M3 in 2008 a year later I paid 70k for a new 385hp C2S...

And I paid 89 for a GT3 with club sport spec -which I only needed to order 9m in advance !

Porsche have already thought of that, and will happily charge you for the privilege biggrin
Much better looking with the number plate there. For me, the white car in the article was let down only by the bulbous appearence of the rear end. Number plate move has fixed it perfectly and the quad exhausts are the icing on the cake.

If I could afford this sort of depreciation in my life financially it would make a great daily. However I'd still want something fun for the weekend like an Elise or similar for blasting down country roads. Perfect for the day to day and long trips.

Depends on what you perceive as a good spec. I love the look of the wood trim and Burmester is a must for me. Some paint, and other than that bog standard. Still very near the 100k mark.

Glad to see someone else who appreciates good factory audio but WOOD on a 911??? hurl

Edit: actually just specced it on the configurator and it is quite tasteful. It is strange to see wood in a 2-door car, but I like it
I saw wood in a 996 years ago and it had the appearance of plastic, and was just slathered everywhere with no thought of taste or class

I don’t like the look it’s a bit Panamera like , maybe it will be a grower...

Review seemed very strong would be interesting to see a heads up road test of .2 GTS vs 992 S

I am not a driving god, but I was left a bit cold by the 991 at 'normal speed', asked the dealer for the keys to the S and it was not much different. It is interesting that this is still an issue in the 992 as it was the only blemish in my eyes with the recent iterations of the car. The beauty of the older cars was that they were entertaining on roads when adhering to the speed limits.
This is my biggest beef with all modern turbo charged supercars... they are so meh at road legal speeds.

1. Porsche always underrate their hp.
2. Rear bias weight + large wheels + RWD.
3. The last 991.2 recorded 0-60mph in 3.1s. 3.6 is nothing. Even a Cayman S will do that
