Disposing of old car magazines - best method?
Discussion
You could try a "Job lot" ad on the bay or similar- I've seen similar ads and there are people out there who will collect them and then list them individually- I have paid up to £5 (inc postage) each for a particular magazine I've wanted because of a road test of a car i've had or wanted!

If you had, say, 20 years of Car Magazineporn mags and maybe a decade worth of old Evorazzle magazines that you no longer wanted, how would you dispose of them? Would you just throw them away or would you find a more advantageous way or moving them on?
Please note I'm very specifically not actually asking what they might be worth if they were sold, or for any kind of valuation. Because asking for sensible advice like that about car magazines on a motoring forum full of people who've likely collected and disposed of magazines is apparently against the rules and would get this thread deleted. (Seriously! It actually happened..! I know...)
I'm just a long standing forum member asking for a little advice. I've got a load ofold car magssticky ex-wk material and just wondering what to do with them, that's all. Nothing furtive, suspicious, underhand, clandestine, dishonest, unethical or devious.
I just would be interested in opinions on a car related matter on a car forum full of car enthusiasts. One or two of whom might have found themselves in a similar position in the past.
I've adjusted your original post to reveal the true meaning. Dave Gorman had the same problem a while ago I believe - shredding doesn't help. Please note I'm very specifically not actually asking what they might be worth if they were sold, or for any kind of valuation. Put them outside on a sunny day with a "For Sale $20" sign. You won't get $20 but they will go somewhere!
NOOOOO.You mentioned the possibility of trading paper for paper on a paperless forum.

I agree with the the guy who said it's not worth the hassle.

That would be a good idea, however last time we [GP Surgery] had an inspection, they stated that we shouldn't have magazines in the waiting room because of 'infection control'.
How are we going to know how cheap big houses used to be if there are no twenty year old Country Life magazines?defblade said:

We've just had a real life GP saying they can't have magazines in wauting rooms any more because of the risk of plague. He didn't say plague, he said infection.
I once had lots of VW golf magazines issue 1 to about 60 and wanted to get rid of them, but did not have the heart to bin them so I ...
Ebayed them started the auction at 99p and turned down £100 to end the auction early.
In the end the same guy brought them for 99p when the auction finished.
On collection I slipped a couple of copies of men’s world into the pile I could not help myself,
Still makes me laugh now just thought I would share that with you.

I have taken a few to work in the past and left them in the break out area. Generally, they are recycled. However there may be issues of interest to others, I have bought old car magazines based on a certain model reviewed and old motorsport magazines if they had a particular driver interviewed.

A potential issue could be that they won't like it if there are sellers who have paid for a pitch and you would be "stealing their trade".
