RE: Ford Focus RS50 EVO on sale from £85k
Discussion
hahahaha 85k....for a car monotone could build you with your own RS. Sure these are official yours would be a replica but you could use yours an not worry about loss of value.
the 60k heritage editions I wonder how many sell at that. There are vaxhall lotus Carltons at over 100k IIRC correctly and they seem a bit like this. how fast do they sell some 20plus years on that is what I would look at if I were buying this as an investment

And given one could achieve a conservative 5% annually on that 85k+ in a number of very safe investments one would need to realise £225k in 20 years just to show a 5% return.
I'm oot
I'm always struck by how crappy the returns on cars billed as stellar investments often are. Upthread somebody said 'keep it for 50 years, sell for a million'. Well that would be near as makes no difference 5% p.a (and assuming no storage/maintenance costs). Not terrible, but you'd be pretty disappointed to get that sort of return from an equity tracker.I'm oot
They will be no shortage of potential buyers , the cars will never see the light of day , shame really . Makes you ask the question , what's the point of making them . Such hate in the thread for a good car , I don't understand why , OK they've had some issues but most of the motoring press like the vehicle , and it's got a manual gearbox , which is a must for most ph folk .

It's not really an iconic car.... is it? This a price usually reserved for something very special. I just see something that looks like a new dolled up shopping trolley with performance matching equivalent tuned fast Ford's from 30 years ago.
Maybe I'm missing something. 85k. If you ever see one the only thing that your gonna be impressed with is the size of the owners wallet.

The hate is for the ridiculous price.I like those stripes ,a throwback to those fitted to the MK2 Escort RSs and Sport models.
If they wouldn't sell, they wouldn't exist. If collectors will spend £40k on a 205 GTI, a car that's at absolute best worth £10k, if they'll spend £100k on a quick Sierra, £50k for an Escort RS Turbo and £30k for an XR3i, what makes you think they wouldn't spend the same money on yet another fast hot hatch? Come on, nobody here is in the market for this, the people who this car exist for aren't drivers, they're investors. People need to stop seeing these high priced cars as cars. They're not cars, they're assets. Like art, property, land etc. No st a Ford Focus isn't an £85k car, but a limited number investment piece evidently is. Otherwise it wouldn't exist. So irritating seeing the "You could buy this car for that", tell an investor to buy a dodgy Gallardo from Keighley instead.

Well, I love it. Maybe not £85k but I'd expect £25k is the exclusivity and the rest is the fancy mods.
I'd expect it to be an absolutely awesome car to drive but I doubt anyone will ever get to review one.
I'd rather spend £85k on this than on many cars which cost the same but will lose half of their value in the first 2years and likely be not as entertaining to drive.

Thing is that back in the day RS fords were usually affordable to the point where your average working class punter could aspire to ownership. Yes they were a bit rough and unrefined in some areas but had relatively good performance, and maintenance was simple. They gave a good bang for buck, and it didn't matter if you abused or damaged them as repairs were cheap. I guess we're in vastly different times now ...
