An X5 must be one of the great allrounder family cars. Space, quality, decent performance, 4x4, prestige badge if that matters to you.
While a 5 series estate provides all that plus better looks, better fuel consumption and top drawer handling for less money...
No seven seat option on a five series, which is a key requirement for this thread.

The E Class is an option as I posted earlier but the seats are very much an afterthought.
You could put a couple of child seats on the roof rack without upsetting the handling too much...

The Skoda Kodiaq vRS lists at £43,000.

Who paid list price for a Skoda? No one, ever!

Factor in a decent 20-25% discount and it's a different ball game completely.

Skoda UK are only bringing in 300 of them so it's not like they're expecting to sell them by the bucket load.

299 of them will be on a PCP or PCH so it's the monthlies that count to most.

You have a good point...

The X5 somehow is a bit less distasteful than most other SUV’s to my taste.

Just don't mention corners...
Reminds me of a Car Magazine article back in the 1980's. They took one on an autobahn run for sts & giggles.

The Kodiak is more aligned to the Tiguan/Ateca than a Q7 or even X5. It's probably an ok car, but well overpriced in my opinion - and that's even before you get into VRS territory.
I considered a 2nd gen X5 before setting on my current 525d Touring. I found them overpriced, frequently abused, and very specification dependent (like all BMW's). The 60 plate one seen here is one of the lower emission ones, but £20k? Seriously? It's 9 years old. I was looking at 3.0sd's, but they were the higher tax bracket, brutal on fuel, and old-tech inside compared to the latest BMW's.

I don’t disagree, the markup on suv’s is silly imo. They are cash cows for oems. Value aside, my original point still stands however.
