I'm hoping to move my shed on in the next few months but will try to use it as a p/x with a main dealer even if it means taking a hit on the potential selling price just for the hassle free transaction. I have no interest in entertaining what I am sure will be a lot of time wasters Vs the 5% genuine buyers who will look for any opportunity to lower the price with unreasonable expectations or try shafting you after the sale.
Last time I tried to PX a shed at a main dealer they offered me £1 for it.

Finally never sell a car on eBay via Auction or Buy it now as the buyer will string you along with "Can you wait until pay day" and "So excited to collect this car" messages before pulling out the night before collection day due to "unforseen circumstances". You will then receive loads of messages from group two of the buyers listed above asking "What happened, I thought this car was sold?"
Stopped selling on eBay for this very reason, absolute waste of time but inversely I still buy a lot off eBay - which can be equally fun - had one guy tell me that although I had won the aution he believed the car was worth more so I'd have to pay him! The difference was about 500 so obviously dreaming -it was a 20 year old saab with terminal rust that was good for parts only (exactly what i wanted it for) - told him to foxtrot oscar

If you are going to sell a car on eBay the only way I would recommend is via classified advert that stays live until the car has driven away. That is still going to cost you £20, so you might as well advertise it on Facebook Marketplace for free instead.

Also I probably would never buy a car via buy it now or auction anymore, purely because you have essentially agreed a price before you have even seen it. I know that technically there is no real commitment to buy it, but it is very awkward to back out once the seller is excitedly stood in front of you with the log book expecting you to just hand over an envelope of cash and drive away.

And remember the seller would have dealt with lots of time wasters and no shows, if you are stood there cash in hand you are much more likely to get a bargain than if you had already agreed a buy it now price.

Only sell on Gumtree these days, tried FB marketplace and didn't appreciate the "still got this" "give you X amount less" type bombardment of messages. Bought plenty of cars on eBay auction tho, not walked away from one yet

Always rated that generation of Accord. Preferred it to the over-sized model that followed.

Lol I may need to reconsider then. Alternatively I will p/x my wife's car which is much newer and may just have to take the plunge with a private sale..and all the characters that comes with!

I'm going to pop my girlfriend's '03 Jazz up on Gumtree this weekend. Looking to get £400 out of it, so do we think put it up at £600? It's a great car, just has a fairly short ticket and can't is SORN so more hassle than it's worth to get a fresh test.
Cars that cheap i've found really easy to sell.

Most the time the buyer is going to break it and part it , so all they care about is if they can drive it away or need a trailer .

In my experience there not bothered about service history etc.

Anyone is South East Wales area (inc Bristol) that wants to sell a good condition shed with either mechanical or electrical faults, I'm all ears. I tend not to buy the usual 3 from Germany and associated (especially Seat for some reason), but I love French stuff, and will take a gamble on most Ford stuff.
I'll pretty much guarantee to give you bottom dollar, but more than WBAC or scrap, and I'll collect with a trailer, when I say i will.

PM me - I don't like seeing decent cars going to the scrap.

Get yourself over to the Autoste forums, there's always decent cheap cars on there.

I was overtaking 2 cars today on a long stretch of road I know very well, one of them pulls out as I'm alongside him so I have to edge the car into the dirt at 60+, car smacks into a small crevis in the dirt and goes sideways which I caught early. There was nowhere to pull over so I keep going until I get to the end of the lane and check it over, the front right wheel is smacked in and there's a sound of something loose under the car. Shocks don't feel ruined but I'll have the car checked over next week anyway. I would've just let him hit me if I wasn't in the Focus, it really isn't that hard to check before you pull out. It's a nice long straight bit of road so it's not like he had to rush past, if he'd bothered to look then he would've seen me going by and still had a good half mile to then pass as well. Luckily being a Ford it should be cheap enough to sort, although the wheel likely needs replacing which means I have to refurb another wheel.

Bloody hell, there's a thing. It kind of makes you feel old and grubby just by browsing the website, but at the same time, there's a weird kind of fascination. I have a friend with a shed and a field - occasionally I have a wander about - it's a cross between a scrap yard and a treasure trove. Just like Autoste.

My 2001 avenues d4d has developed the dreaded duel mass flywheel rattle. Looks like a £600 plus bill. Everyone would automatically say I'm mad as it exceeds the cars value.

However the car is immaculate, everything works including a/c, its punchy, spacious, inconspicuous and does 55mpg everywhere. This is the first bill outside regular servicing in the 50k miles I've done in it, so you know what I think I'm going to fix it. I'd never find a car as good for 3 times the fix cost.

Is it actually a problem other than sounding nasty ?

Our work vans won't be fixed until they actually break so we've had dmf chattering away for years .

Good point, drives perfect just a rattle on idle. I just assumed it would explode at some point leaving me at the side of the road. I’ve a 600 mile trip at the end of the month and that wouldn’t be uncommon.

Noisy=continue
Borked=fix or scrap

I always feel a big spend means your kind of tied in. In so much that you could do a big spend only to find it either opens up a can of worms of further work required or you get another big bill a short time later.
