I had seen that car too, ATM. Fantastic colour combination. Did it sell? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334344709478

The advert read well but did generally give me a feeling of confirmation that an old Aston is never going to be kind to the wallet even the baby vantage which was largely based on the XK8 and therefore reputed to be less risky.

I dont frequent the trader. I prefer to poke around in the cesspool which is eBay.
Car seems to be keeping some great company.

That is probably one of the stupidest things somebody can do to an E6x M5 or E6x M6. The high revving nature of the engine cries out for as many gears as you can fit in a Getrag casing. Max torque is made at 6100rpm, you really need the ratios to be as close as possible to keep it on the boil. I have driven US M5s and M6s and I think they are rubbish when compared to the E61 M5 that I owned for 20K+. When properly set-up and maintained, the SMGIII is a work of beauty and miles better than a comparable system fitted to the usual Italian supercars, which rarely come in for criticism...Fast Bug said:
I was only thinking of this thread this morning. I was cruising round the M25 on my way to the office and went past a gorgeous Aston Martin DB6 with a guy suited and booted on his way to work. He definately had the best commute today
Pretty cool way to get to work. This used to be me favourite thread on here, but it seems to have slowed right down in recent times. I'd migrated over to the barge thread, but that's gone all strange recently too.
A couple of things caught my eye recently
I quite like the idea of this - a 500hp Exige for £65k.
Or, for a bit more, I think McLaren 570s are starting to look like an attractive proposition at under £100k - something like this
Not that I'm in the market to buy either of them at the moment.

Sadly lots of posters have migrated elsewhere.
'Tis true, sadly. There's a mini-meet coming up though for some of the old regulars.ferrisbueller said:
McLarens seem like a good way to burn a load of money as far as I can tell. As impressive as they are, they leave me cold.
'Tis also true, sadly! This is nice

And I really like this, so much want for a 993 or an impact bumper (sorry Chris )

Wow. There’s a few names from the past.
Agreed re older cars. I don’t know if it’s my age but many cars that I like the most are from the era just after when I started to drive.
Cars that I’ve owned from that era that spring to mind are my 300TE and 560SEC, Integrale, Mondial - all around 1990. Sure I love the odd older and newer thing (like that Exige above, and the GR Yaris) and I’ve had some great more modern cars but the cars I still hanker after are from that late 80s/early 90s era. Still many itches to scratch from the 90s.

It is indeed the 80/90’s fodder that tugs at my heart strings too.
It’s the things I wanted and read about in Fast Lane and Performance Car magazine that get me today. The first article I remember reading from start to finish was CAR magazine and the roadtest of a pearl white Audi S6 (circa 1994)
