Well, I have now driven through Eau Rouge, so that’s one thing ticked off, Spa is truely a special track, the tv doesn’t do varying elevations justice.
Spa classic is a great event for anyone who hasn’t done it superb access and good viewing for the pit section, it is also not particularly busy and far more relaxed compared to the Le Mans or Silverstone classics, and dare I say a better mix of cars who were definitely not just demonstrating. The drive from Spa to Adenau through the mountains was stunning, the roads were superb.
Bit of Monday morning engine porn.

Some great posts chaps, very nice indeed
I had a nose around that P4 rep and it was very nicely done indeed and I bet it sounds fantastic
The 400i is such a handsome ol' thing and in my most humble of opinions a very cool and understated in a way the moderns just can't get near to. I would very happily cruise around in that and I bet it it would be a lovely GT to cruise around europe in and would not look out of place outside the nicest of country piles. Noice.
I went to Spa many (many many) years ago and the change in elevation is quite something isn't it, great engine bay pictures and the event is on my list to attend sometime soon.
Talking of hilly race meetings;
I ticked a bucket list item off last week by spending the day blasting up Prescott hillclimb in various toys, we took along the '24 Vauxhall Special and most of my day was spent behind the wheel of a glorious '67 Cooper S.......I wasn't lured by the moderns much

I had to google. There were only 71 of these GLtds made.
It’s the first thing that springs to mind for me when a Q-car is ever mentioned. 5-dr, narrow-body, single-lamp Mk2, hand-built by the Motorsport division. Was also the most powerful Golf produced until the Mk4 R32 appeared many years laterFast Bug said:
As I mentioned yesterday, I was at MB World collecting my car and checked out some of the cars that were going through the Historics auction today.
This was lovely, looked a very well presented thing

Old Mercs are really appealing at present, not least due to some fantastic Reader's Ride threads by some people who really care for and love them. This was lovely, looked a very well presented thing

When did these become so handsome? I always thought they were the ugly ducklings in the prancing pony stable, but it looked lovely

These have been the cheapest ticket to V12 Donkey-dom forever but IMO they're brilliant things. I'm 97% sure I'd need a lottery win before I'd contemplate ownership. Same applies to 456, which is an even better looking thing.www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2019-05-18/car...

This doesn't feel like a lot of money for something that's rarer than a rare thing.

Relative to Lambos and Maseratis of a similar age, I have to agree. Maseratis in particular have climbed in recent times. Brings to mind the Top Gear episode where they gleefully destroyed a Merak (and its contemporaries) in the name of entertainment.www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2019-05-18/car...
Call me a philistine but for that money I would plonk my arse in a 996GT3R which on the balance of things probably has a better racing pedigree and is the last truly analogue Motorsport 911 made. It is also eligible for all the historic stuff that the 993 is too.
Last but not least, did I mention that it cost about 1/2 of the 993, which would leave enough dough for two seasons of racing?

Lot of 996s in the endurance championship at Spa classic, there was a Lorry that turned up with 4 of them in the back, sounded good and were bloody quick. A couple of 993s as well, dare I say that the new championship might have nudged prices up somewhat.
Not keen on the white wheels though.

I’d always remembered reading about the CTR in a mag back in the late 80s, and in those pre-internet days it was the first time I’d heard of Ruf. The mag was long since lost by myself, along with the title of it, but I knew it wasn’t one of the better known like Car, PC or Fast Lane
That was until PH-er sm informed me a while back that it was the long since defunct “World Sportscars” magazine. Been keeping an eye out for a copy for quite some time since, and finally managed to get my hands on one again today!
Getting my hands on an actual CTR might take slightly longer however!

"A staggering 469 bhp" crikey times have changed, that's now A45/M140/RS3 with a chip kind of power! However, I know which I'd rather grab and take for a spirited drive
I'm willing to bet the 'bird is quite a bit lighter than the modern hatches though.PTW FTW (as the kids say).
