Hmm...i8 vs. R8 V8 manual vs. left field choice of Alfa Romeo 4C (with the alignment sorted).

The i8 is quite appealing but you can't really take it on a track day with those little tyres can you?

So change the tyres and tweak the geometry then (or is this only allowed on an Alfa?).

What type of mpg can you get out of this car in a London environment vs. a road trip to Wales with a lot of motorway? What's the actual range given the small fuel tank?

For touring they are very useful.

The range for me is 250-300 miles on average (you are right, the tank is tiny). In town, MPG is close to infinite, certainly way over the quoted 134 figure. On a trip with the battery regen'ing on the fly and at motorway speeds it will do 35-45 depending on how busy the motorway is (consumption is noticeably better at 50mph).

Rear seats carry quite a lot of soft luggage (in fact, due to the heat in the boot from the engine I use the rear seats more), or two slim, sub-6ft, adults for short journeys. It also fits a booster seat for my 5 yr grand-daughter.

Never could make my mind up about these. Sometimes they look good, sometimes terrible.

I always wanted to be Ed Straker so maybe one day I’ll whirr about in one.
Well you can't - I have that covered!

Well, I like them, looking forward to being able to put some wedge together to buy an i8 one day!

I really like them and would have one.

Aside from the small facts I'm too tall to fit in them don't have £40K laying around I'm good to go!

The i8 does have back seat, in the same way a 911 does. Agreed they are not nice to sit in as an adult but they are still there and it does make difference in who buys them compared to a 2 seater. So really an Alfa 4c or Audi R8 arent its competition, the 911 is. For £45k, your looking at a 14/15 reg i8 or a 2010 Carrera 4s. I'd take the i8.

I'm 6'7" and am borrowing one from ChargedEv next month for a week. I tried one at the dealer across the road and just about fit. Getting in and out will not be elegant however.

Glad these are well-liked on PH, they are on my list too. I have an i3 and it's the best normal (i.e. not hooning) car I have ever driven.

At 6'7" I imagine there are a whole multitude of cars you are too big for. That is some height !

I'm 6'6 with long legs and fit in it just fine. Oh, it's never elegant getting in and out no matter what height you are biggrin

I did look at the photos of the open doors and wonder how much of a limbo they would take to get under. Is it just a case of duck then clamber in or is there a knack requiring some flexibility?

(I once got pretty much stuck in a Lotus Elise, the roof was on and I couldn't get my knee past the door. Not a good look crawling out of a car really)
