I don’t think it will do anything close to 30mpg. I personally don’t have a problem with it. I’m sick of diesels. Various reasons.
My old x5 4.4i would do close to 30mpg on a long dcw/motorway run. So would my 3.0i x5. The newer engines, gearboxes and better aero should help.

My Lexus gs250 does over 40mpg at 120kmph on a run. At 80-90kmph I see nearly 50mpg from it. The 3.0 petrol toureg will be quite frugal.

It’s easily the pick of the range. I’m sick of diesels too

I realise you can get a good discount on this but I suspect the depreciation will be heavy. A decent spec Cayenne with the same engine comes in at £66k with far better residuals. I know what Id rather have.

If saving money was the aim, you think a Touareg would even be on the table? Very simple:

SUV requires: Torque, low down grunt for towing
Diesel: Torque, low down grunt, the 3.0 V6 TDI is smooth, quiet, and has plenty of grunt. I find it's quieter than the petrol and just as smooth, therefore more refined.

If I wanted to save money, I would drive the god awful hybrid, but I can't imagine a worse power train to curse it with. Keep the moronic assumptions to yourself please, especially when you've only "tried" a few I6 diesel engines.
Are you for real?

I’ve owned 3 Mercedes with the OM642 engine (diesel) covering well over 100k miles in them, the d5 Volvo in the s80 and two four cylinder diesels (something I wouldn’t wish on anyone)

Never mind the petrol Lexus and petrol BMW’s.

I can safely say petrol engines win hands down. The best diesel was the Volvo - at least it made a nice roar at full tilt. The others were abysmal and marred the cars terribly.

The hybrid gives more torque than your 3litre diesel and is more refined to boot.

You’d find a petrol better for towing. More flexible delivery of power and torque.

People do choose diesels to save money. Clearly not you but most buy these on PCP and without these finance packages would in no way in hells chance be able to afford them otherwise. Hence they choose the cheapest, slowest, noisiest and most economical varient they can as really the cars beyond their means.
Yeah I am for real, and the car is bought out right thanks wink As I said, not wasting my time on the resident diesel troll laugh

"The hybrid gives more torque than your 3litre diesel and is more refined to boot"

Hybrid: 324 lb/ft
My car: 408 lb/ft

Maybe do some basic fact checking first silly smile Unlike you, I've driven both and no it certainly isn't more refined. I look forward to your incorrect, misinformed and laughably trollish reply.

Over what rev range. You’re the troll trying to argue a diesel is quieter than a petrol. Actually not a troll just a fool

Well mine has it low down, where you want it for towing, yet the petrol is better at towing apparently? I find it funny that you call me a fool, yet you fill your replies with nothing but moronic hate and outright lies. We get it, you hate diesels, get over it. I hate EV and usually the people that drive them, you don't find me going from thread to thread spouting nonsense that I can't back up. What an irritating little guy you are yes

It's why the Dually trucks in the US don't use big displacement diesels for hauling 100k a year.

Huh. This petrol car has torque very low down.

I will be brilliant for towing, it will be luxurious and quiet and it won't be banned from certain cities and towns. What's not to like.

Nothing personal dude, I don't hate diesel drivers and people just because they drive them - sounds like you have a lot of venom and hate to spout off.

Clearly your blood pressure is rising and I don't want to be responsible for you having a coronary episode over the fact I like petrol cars and am keen on hybrid/EV tech.

Enjoy your diesel and the hate for those with electric cars.

Holly troller. You’re back.

Please explain how my opinions on diesels are dated when the oldest one I owned was a 2005 car and the lousy X6 diesel 40d clatterwagon was a 2018 car.

I am extremely open minded, and base my views around experiences. Something you clearly need to do but given you “hate people” for driving electric cars I suspect there’s little hope of that.

Take a good look at the thread, and decide which one of us people agree with smile Then stop replying, it's Sunday, go find something or someone to interact with instead of trolling online Forums. What a sad use of your day yes Won't be getting a reply from me anymore, so feel free to spout some more nonsense, like this for example laughlaughlaugh

Listen, you are the schmuck how claimed a diesel is more refined than a petrol. I gave my thoughts on the new petrol engine, favourable thoughts I might add, and you went to troll level expert on me.

A Euro6 compliant diesel engine will not be banned the next 10 years, please don't mix the ban on Euro 3 and 4 diesels in Germany, with the current Euro6 diesels.

You can clearly see the direction that legislation is going with diesels. It might yet be sooner.

The petrol model here looks amazing.
