Why use the 360 engine? Perhaps its just the exhaust used in mid-V8 Ferraris since the 360, but to my ears, the 360 sounds significantly worse than the 355. The 355 esp with Tubi sounds like an F1 car, whereas the 360 has an 'amorphous' sound that isn't that different from a lot of other supercars with varying engine configurations

"The 355 esp with Tubi sounds like an F1 car" - sounds like F1 cars used to!

I really liked the 348, I think mainly because I had a little Maisto model of one back when I was very young (now long gone).

I liked the side strakes and how the rear lights were 'hidden' behind the black grille.

People seem to forget that the 348 came around after the 328, taking cues from that and the Testarossa - hence the side strakes. Then came the 355, which was an evolution of the 348.

I struggle to see how people can call one incredibly ugly when overall they're incredibly similar!

I cannot believe people fall for these fantasy projects time and time again!

Its all hot air, the vague speel in the intro confirms such, it makes TVRs marketing sound slick.

For a start the 348 uses a transverse gearbox, the 360 uses a longitudinal one, therefore the output shafts from the box would be much further back, the wheels would not even fit in the arches by a large margin.

The only transverse 6 speed box would be from a 355 but that will not mate up to a 360 engine.

348s are no longer cheap and were never seen a a handling car anyway, hence the 355 was produced.

These dreamers have simply seen the price of Singers compared to the base car that is used and think there is a fortune to be made using the runt of the litter 348.

Never, ever going to happen.

I can do worse, in the early noughties we (Stratstone Porsche & Ferrari) took a 20,000 mile 348 Competizione in p/x against a 996 Turbo...............it was £50K..............the Ferrari guys didn’t even want to retail it so off it went into the trade. 😩

Very inauthentic and badly executed from a design point of view. It'll never look right.

If you're going to do a 348 Resto-mod, celebrate the design of the car it's based on and make it beautifully detailed rather than a bodykit to make it look like a 355

Doing it this way, you're restricted to the taller, Angular 348 Glasshouse and overall proportions, the wrong roof height etc. Fundamentally it'll look like a "wrong" 355 in person, hence the Mr2 conversion comparisons.

I'm sure it'll drive nicely

Less black trim and different wheels worked for me.
The black trim is the best bit about the 348.

Those wheels don't work either.

Well they look round enough, and the tyres are still inflated... actually I like them, certainly more than the standard 348 wheels anyway.

I must smile. Lots of negative opinions on here but not many doing anything similar to compare.

I'm just glad this kind of stuff exists. If anyone thinks they can do better...................................

I've been looking at F355's for years, I'd love a manual GTS, but the prices have already started rising, this kind of project makes me all fuzzy inside like the Singer's, would love to own one.

F355 prices haven't gone up for about 3 years - in fact they have gone down a bit. I bought one 3 years ago and it is worth less now (although I have put a few miles on it)

If you want one, buy now - once all this Brexit nonsense is sorted out, they will start going up again (although who know when that will be).

Came across this again recently, seems the website has been updated with specs/prices etc.

http://www.evolutoautomobili.com/

500 hp at 10,000 rpm (estimated)
1000 kgs saving about 400 kgs
starting at £465,000

Singer DLS levels of performance for a quarter of the price. Give the extent of the weight savings, surprised they don't list options like a titanium exhaust and the carbon ceramic brakes.
Not every ones cup of tea but I'd certainly be giving them a call with a lottery win.
Looks lovely in this colour with those wheels.
