I reluctantly went along to the dealership with the wife to take a look at this as her next car, and was quite suprised how nice it was.
They're already in the dealers? I knew this new model was coming, but missed the big reveal completely (which Autocar informs me was in November).I see positives & negatives. The good: no 3 door, which means no cabrio. Hoping it stays that way. The bad: it's very similarly proportioned as the last one, so interior room still won't be great.
It'll sell just fine I think, as did the last one. I hope it does, for JLR's sake.
Drove through the Land Rover factory at Halewood the other day, couldn't believe my eyes. There were thousands of new Evoques parked up waiting for delivery. In my opinion it doesn't look as good as the old one. The only one that caught my eye was a dark metallic red one with black wheels.

The "all new underpinnings" are not new, other than in name.
Yes they are. There's no Ford in the Evoque!!!

Its shame they don't do a 3litre V6 version really. Im sure the softness of this new model will look good over time, but I think I prefer the original shape, certainly in 4 door guise.
Doubtful they'll do a V6 as the evoque uses a transverse engine. F type uses longitudinal based engine so would suit the v6
Having seen the new Evoque, I actually prefer the new one. It has a very classy look about it.
I think this looks rather nice. My parents had one of the old ones, a top spec petrol and while it was too crashy on uneven surfaces it was a very nice little car. Yes they looks expensive but very few people will be buying these for cash at full price, these things are leased more than Porsches. They also seems to hold their value better than the bigger JLR products.
While I understand that JLR have some reliablity issues I really don't get why they are so heavily bashed on here, they can't sneeze without being abused by the PH massive. Between my parents and I we've had 8 LR products and had very few issues with them. It's not as though other car manufacturers have infinitely reliable cars and most of the issues stated with LR's are annoying electrical bits rather than leaving you dead at the side of the road.
In contrast my brother had a 2 year old 28k mile Fiesta throw a piston through the block. My other brothers Ranger broke numerous times leaving him stranded at the side of the road (clutch master cycliner on transit engines anyone?) and his replacement A-Class was recalled three times and had 2 full electrical meltdowns which meant he couldn't get in it! Needless to say he owned it less than 3 months in the end.
I really hope this sells well for Land Rover and helps them bring forward more hybrid and EV products so I don't have to pay extortionate company car taxes.
