Thankfully gone away from a turbocharged engine.

Speedo and tacho don't work.

It is what I would like, but I'm not chopping up my Sport Evo for one.
It's madness to chop up an original car to make it. Surely for that money they could make one from scratch? It makes the newly built imitation MK2 Escort look cheap.

£330k yikes
Carfection have done a video too. £330k, plus the cost of a donor.

If so much is changed why not start from a 316?

A great review by Ollie. It's a shame that he's not featured on the TV shows. £330K though! eek

Plus a donor car.

Spewing smoke from the tailpipes in both videos! Hope it's nothing serious...

Probably a V5 doc with M3 printed on it. An M3 V5 is worth about £15k apparently.

I watched the Carfection video tonight.

I’m clearly a heathen because I really, really like it. If I had loads of money to spunk away on a car, I’d do it!

Seems like that to me as well Mark

They're just doing what Retropower has been doing for ages
I strongly suspect this is actually a Retropower creation, they have been dropping hints in their last two videos!

Reinventing the wheel for 330k.

A fool and their money.

Sounds good. Don’t like the blue needle on the dials. It’s missing the front damper caps. Maybe they don’t fit the fancy top mounts.

Just no, some cars should not be messed with, stupid price as well.

As for the Top Gear review and the guy moaning about the boot lid fit, point well and truly missed.

It could be 99% of that end result for 50% of the price, by starting with a base model and dispensing with the savagely expensive carbon stuff

Had a similar discussion on an RS500 recreation that came up for sale. 99% correct to spec or period type of upgrades, and about half what a genuine car would be in the same condition

I thought that was a result but expert forum consensus was that it should be crushed and burned at the stake

Confirmed in latest Retropower video. 2nd car already started.

Be interesting when they post their own build video, they've promised it soon. Like it or loathe it, the engineering involved seems pretty awesome.

330k... nice, but thats a lot, but hey, a Singer cost even more...

I've owned also 4 times a e30 M3 all 4 different sorts.

-e30 M3 Evo 1 my first one
-e30 M3 with kat = less power but exclusive edition all white/creme leather with some black and alcantara so no plastic anywhere, I did not wanted to buy it because 195 or so hp =dull but could not sleep because so exclusive interior, so next day went back and bought it biglaugh
-e30 M3 Alpina B6s built afterwards so not Alpina in documents, but the rest was, plus wheel arches extra small lip perfectly created.
-e30 M3 e36 M3 3.0 tuned engine and more parts 320hp, this was the very best of all, not nose heavy ala B6S but normal but with extra power clap

so, would I buy again?
why not, but never ever a original powered one, to slow, needs tuning if 4 cill keep, then say supercharge or expensive NA motorsport tuning 280-330hp
or s65 V8 or S50/S54 (or s52 with SC/Turbo) M3-ish engine, or maybe such modern M2 or so 6 cill...

here 2 old pictures scanned in long time ago, top 2 is the M3 with 3.0 e36 tuned 320hp
bottom 2 pictures that Alpina B6s build with the small lip flared fenders, looked way better in the real world.

they were so I bought them long time ago, as said, that e30 M3 with the e36 M3 engine was the best, felt and drove perfect.

Its all gone very quiet at retropower regarding these cars. The second shell is often lurking in the background untouched on their vids.

Me suspects no orders were received, and this was just a one off for the rich guy who was backing it. The guy fronting the set up was pretty full of himself.

Would have loved to have had one when they were attainable, but I chose the Sierra Cosworth route at time.

If I'm honest, a lot of that was down to the LHD and UK thing, plus an affinity for fast fords, but also largely because they weren't actually that fast a road car back then either.

I've an E92 now, and the prospect of an E30 M3 with an S65 is mouth watering ...... I'm kinda tempted to see how feasible it could be to put that engine in my Mk2 escort.

If you like a bit push in the back, you indeed need another more powerfull engine in such e30 M3 or tuning the present M3 engine, but that is even more costly then say putting a e36 M3 engine in.
A S65 engine is marvelous for lighter cars like a 1250 kg e30 M3 vs 1650 or so M3 e9x

I know cause I have such engine in my Z3 s65 with 445hp empty weight 1285kg shorter engine then the 6 cill andd perfect balance, so yes such s65 would be perfecr for a e30 M3 or Z1

I also had such Ford Sierra Cosworth it was a hype and I would not buy again with the wait for it when Turbo kicks in, besides that the e30 M3 was a finer drivers car even standard.

Ow, btw, a e30 M3 engine tuning is very expensive if you want 285-33hp out of it, of course a engine swap is also expensive, but... you can sell the good M3 S14 engine, they bring up good money, if you do things yourself you could even win money when selling such S14 engine, buying a V8 or S50 or so engine and install it (if you do such yourself or most of the job and have some money spare from the left overs S14 engine sell.

and yes, such s65 in a Escort would also be fun, they already done some with the Rover TVR engine or standard-ish Rover engines.
