Yay! A worse car for more money!

God I hate the automotive landscape these days. Aston Martin starts making stupid duck faced nonsense, Porsche brings out another ugly truck, BMW and Toyota are busy seeing who can make the Supra/Z4 twins look worse (Toyota winning). When will it end?

I know styling is subjective, but when was the last time you saw a car so beautiful it made your jaw drop? Ah hell, when was the last time you saw one that was at least tasteful and handsome?

Oops, looks like I’ve put my grumpy trousers on today. But still, Stuttgart - **** you for yet another abomination.

Sorry but to me it’s the same as the BMW and Mercedes equivalents; gopping and pointless...
Does every car need a point?

I think this is the first one of these "coupe SUVs" which doesn't look worse than the normal SUV it's based on.

Perhaps that's damning with faint praise to an extent though, given the car its based on is the Cayenne. biggrin

At some point vulgar will go out of fashion, and these will be seen as deeply naff!
Which means that I'll be able to get one for £3.47

Excellent cool

What does this give you over a regular Cayenne, other than more compromises?
A nominal performance advantage on paper that isn't going to be noticed from the drivers seat.

The Mk1 Cayenne looked plain awkward, the current version was way better imho.
This "not-a-coupe" coupe has gone back to being awkward.

Can we presume it's a Porsche "Urus" underneath the bodywork ?

Well they're both MLBevo based, but then so is almost everything else longitudinal front-engined in VAG's stable. I doubt this has significantly more in common with the Urus than it does with the A4.

You can see the Urus and Q8 in there at the rear, but overall I really like it.

3.9s is utterly mental in a big car like that - cannot wait to experience a launch in that thing! smilesmilebiggrin

I hope its better made than the Urus - the only one I've seen in, was parked up in Manchester city centre earlier this week and had what I assume was a stress crack right across the windscreen (no sign of impact or any other damage). That isn't acceptable on a brand new £20K car let a lone a £200k (after options) one.

In design probably, in price range it is not quite the same is it?

I don't think the urus really has one at the moment.

Manufacturer makes rival car to rival manufacturer? Wouldn't that be like you calling the Mercedes C class a Mercedes 3 series?

Shame the Velar is such a munter from the front. Looks lovely otherwise.

Agreed.

Cayenne would have been my next car in 18 months time had they not dropped the diesel option mad

What about the Hybrid? Or do you regularly do mega miles.

Mileage issue, hybrid not an option, even if its purchase premium to buy wasn't so huge as it is, which further makes it pointless anyway.
