Any love for a doom blue LS at a seemingly reasonable £695 before haggle?

Crumbs that's a bargain, someone by it and drive out up here for me.
Yeah, bloody miles away from me too, and being car less it's a fair old trip to make to find out it's a rotter!

745i is at £670 on ebay. Dude with the £700 offer is still interested, he came last night and plugged in a reader to see the error codes, which has confirmed the gearbox is shafted in some way, so he looking how much he can source a replacement box for. All the while the ebay price creeps every closer to the £700 offer biggrin
Sorry to hear the 745i is on ebay! Loved that car, I first bought it as an approved used car from bmw in 2008.

In better days during our euro road trip in 2010...

Seems like it's at the £700 mark on ebay.

Such a shame that it's come to this. It clearly hasn't covered many miles since I sold it 3 years ago. Less than 5k/year by the looks of it.

Buy it, take out the gearbox and seats and use the rest to sell as spares! hehe

Mot check shows that plate belongs to a RR Sport. Surely they aren’t trying to make it difficult to see the cars history?

Nice colour, pretty good spec. and sounds like a sensible seller in the ad. Could be a good buy if it checks out

First MOT this year for that vehicle, Most likely a trade in and plate change, I can't see that number plate staying with the car, it's probably worth ten times the car value!

It's cheap, but not too cheap, would make a good purchase and ordinarily it would be the perfect car for me... would that I didn't have another one sitting dead on the driveway, which takes the sheen away from them biggrin
I need at least one other car inbetween before I come back to an E65, to help me forget.

up to £770 on ebay now, with 4 hours to go. I would post a link but that is against site rules!

I feel a pang of sadness but also of relief, if that makes sense. I wouldn't have expected the gearbox to be the failure though, having had a fairly decent service about 5-6 years ago. I'd have at least been tempted to call STS transmissions, where I had the work done.

My memory isn't what it was - is that the one I came to look at somewhere out near Allenheads?
No idea, not whilst I was in ownership. I only had one person view the car when it was for sale, and they bought it. However, the chap who I sold it to did come from Scotland....so you quite possibly did....!

Yeah, I didn't expect it to be the gearbox that killed it either! Dude with the scanner said it was showing "a dozen gearbox faults", which makes me think it is more electrical than mechanical in origin.

At least we have closure and it stayed in the thread till the end biggrin

No it's not - just noticed the interior is different. I did look at a silver 745 owned by someone on here.

Weird how it was smoking, I think you said? If it was electrical in nature, I wouldn't have thought that? The gearboxes in these units are fairly reliable, and that had a decent service, so, like you, I think it could well be something else like electrics. It was a good barge that, I am putting some money aside for when the day comes and the Toyota dies (hell might freeze over before that) or I fancy a change....but because I carry a bike a lot, I think a hatch or estate is more preferable to a saloon. Having said that about the Toyota, its MOT did say some surface corrosion was noted.... when it next goes in for any work I'll ask if there's a risk it'd ever become structural.

RIP 745i frown

Who knows....the buyer may restore it to life biggrin

Ref tools: Do any bargistas own a rechargeable impact wrench he can recommend? I'm after a budget option (i.e. not DeWalt money). Something as this:

£1130 in the end, let's hope the buyer actually comes through! It looks to be a BMW specialist who has bought it, so I expect it is destined to be a parts car.

That's not bad for a breaker sale. If it was working I don't think you'd have got over £2k!
