What negotiating tactics do you use?
1) Having spent months considering the options and now having found "the" one that fits the brief,2) Arrive, immediately lose all semblance of ability to request money off for the obvious hanging off bits,
3) Agree with the vendor that the MOT advisories are nothing to worry about despite their fitting every little AND big thing the particular model is notorious for exploding and costing a fortune to rectify, assuming I remember to even discuss the MOT,
4) Giggle excitedly at having finally brought my quest to an end, hand over cash and offer to sign receipt absolving the pretend non-trader of all responsibility,
5) Leave, immediately regret, and fire up autotrader while awaiting recovery.
I am the buyer you want.
ETA, shiny pictures really help with #1. How lush does this £3600 L322 look?

Surely that must have been a special order with a large deposit when it was new?
Really like the look of the D3, they seem outstanding value for money at the moment. Enormous things though.

A good haggle over budget at £5750.
e39 540i
I thought the photo location looked familiar.
Did we have a 7 series there before.

Apologies for posting as they're a little out of thread budget but there are some beautiful cars, including some lovely older barges, coming up for auction at Silverstone which I thought might be of interest here. I particularly like the look of the E23 735 and that Arnage, one of the last of the "true Bentley's" although if I could only choose 1 car from the list it would be a tough call between the 2002 and the Delta Integrale.

Have we had this yet?
Seems like a lot of useful, Avant horses for around £3000.

Crinkly, but a very nice colour. It's worth buying simply to do something about the number plate and restore some dignity to the old girl. Despite the owner's questionable taste that looks a very reassuring ad. Good spot.

At least i know where to advertise my car for sale, within thread budget obviously.
ETA: the Silverstone prices look ... optimistic.
a more thread auction: https://online.handh.co.uk/m/view-auctions/catalog...

So - i have not been here long on this forum , but judging by the number of posts in this thread (and are there others similar?) what is really missing is an entire forum dedicated to barges and the not so "0-60 6.5 secs" vehicle world....i bit like the festival of the unexceptional, but a forum....do these things exist? I know there is carandclassic website but IMHO its just stuck in the 80s in this regard?
Retrorides perhaps? I'm quite happy lurking in this thread and enjoying our little Church of barge appreciation.
I realise that might well be heresy, but the 190 is rapidly approaching proper classic status imho, when certain parts obsession isn't worth it.

Hmm I’m in a pickle with my 190e. It needs a new viscous clutch for the engine fan. The garage can’t find one, only electric ones. Any ideas on who sells decent ones and where I can get them from? What brand to look out for?
Might be worth just dumping it and fitting an electric Kenlowe.I realise that might well be heresy, but the 190 is rapidly approaching proper classic status imho, when certain parts obsession isn't worth it.
