Hmm I’m in a pickle with my 190e. It needs a new viscous clutch for the engine fan. The garage can’t find one, only electric ones. Any ideas on who sells decent ones and where I can get them from? What brand to look out for?
Do you have the OEM part number? This site will take OEM part numbers and cross reference them:
https://www.buycarparts.co.uk

(Despite it being .co.uk it's a German site).

I can try and get one certainly, thank you.

Ref fitting an electric one. Might be a bit costly?

Yes I'm sure you're right, more a point about relying on the increasingly unreasonable/unavailable Mercedes classic parts bin. smile

Another tale of barge woe - the LS is beyond economical repair - rear subframe and most other bars and suspension parts are knackered (snapped a rear trailing arm too g round a roundabout). Looks like I need a new car imminently.

It will be more than a viscous coupling I would have thought.

A V70 T5 Ocean race by any chance? 2006. I'll be selling my ex-wife's before very long.

hehe

A v70 wasn't really on my radar (had been thinking about legacies/forester/impreza, caldina turbo, crown turbo airtrek r, anything quick, potentially reliable as a daily and rwd or 4wd, but depending on price I may be interested as a stop gap daily barge chap.

Very good! It was my car actually but she wants something newer and smaller. My interest is mainly to ensure that she doesn't part ex it for peanuts. Rather inconveniently for most, it's in Somerset.

That interior is absolutely vile rofl
Surely that must have been a special order with a large deposit when it was new?

Really like the look of the D3, they seem outstanding value for money at the moment. Enormous things though.
Oh my, that's hideous! I think it'd look considerably better if the grey bits were black. Nasty scuff on the bumper, too.
This in spades and I like a bit of colour on an interior. I was looking forward to opening the link and then I saw it and thought wow, that is going to limit the target market!
Infiltrated by heathens!
Pics always make the red ‘pop’ more than it does in real life. The FE’s are usually a premium over a standard S8, so assuming the big ticket item (gearbox) is healthy, i think could be a good buy. Spare parts always was an issue with 10 yr + old Audis, still the same i presume.

My deposit has been accepted and the advert withdrawn. The e34 is nearly mine!

I've got a Haynes manual and service reset tool for the E34 going free if you're anywhere near Newcastle/Durham (the poor end).

Retrorides perhaps? I'm quite happy lurking in this thread and enjoying our little Church of barge appreciation.

Might be worth just dumping it and fitting an electric Kenlowe.

I realise that might well be heresy, but the 190 is rapidly approaching proper classic status imho, when certain parts obsession isn't worth it.
Well I’ve scoured the net with no luck, so I might look into an alternative fan. However Kenlowe no longer manufacture or supply the general public with electric fans.

Does anyone have any ideas about an alternative fan solution?

Ah, that's a bugger! Spal do a range of fans which will be decent, they've provided industrial fans for ages.

I thought the photo location looked familiar.
Did we have a 7 series there before.
And a lovely dark blue D2 A8 2.8 with some transfer on the OS side of the bootlid.

If you're a 2.0 four cylinder you are almost certainly a M102.

("almost certainly" is my finest legalise for "you have an M102" without shouldering any responsibility should it transpire someone had engine swapped your vehicle without you realising).

Then I think I should probably purchase it, so long as Mercedes can’t help! Thread has delivered once again, thanks all!

In for an emissions check as a precaution following the welding of cats with split seams and out with a clean emissions rating and new rear subframe bushes (4.5 hours labour) and rear brake pads!

They were quite perished... so advised it should be done prior to my impending mini-European jaunt... including a little bit of autobahn-ing.

Next stop... d:class re-upholsterers in Surrey tomorrow morning for the replacement of the unused driver's seat cushion purchased from ebay!
