A little over thread budget but what a colour, and matching hub caps, lovely.
Looks like Binky of Strela fame, although perhaps his might have been more of an apricot hue. A little over thread budget but what a colour, and matching hub caps, lovely.

They are glorious things and I love mine. I had the 100,000 miles service a few weeks ago, it cost around £525 including plugs and replacement of the auxiliary drive belt.
Coincidentally I did a 'WBAC' search last night and they will pay £6000 for it. Of course, I would hope to do a lot better privately, but it was still a shocker.

That's great value for £895, traded in our Freelander for a SLK280 at the weekend, as the 166 & V8V are not to be used for dog / tip, winter duties, that looks just the ticket, shame it is the other side of the world from me though.
ETA running insurance quotes (damn being young-ish), probably need it - £299 p.a., plus what, £300 tax?
£265 for tax as a pre 2001 over 1549cc car. ETA running insurance quotes (damn being young-ish), probably need it - £299 p.a., plus what, £300 tax?

Another value question, what is the consensus on a w212 e350cdi in budget?
https://www.usedcarsni.com/2011-Mercedes-E-Class-E...
It's done 209000 miles with the same owner and serviced at the same place throughout that time, I think it could be worth a punt?
P.s. if anyone is looking for a derv minibarge, my e91 is now in the classifieds....
Loads of car for the money IMO. https://www.usedcarsni.com/2011-Mercedes-E-Class-E...

I think the V6 is a really good engine. All the power and torque you really need, decent MPG and pretty reliable outside of niggles relating mainly to oil leaks or sensor issues I personally haven't come across too many mechanical failures.
A couple a bit outside of budget but they should come down again in 12 months with some more ULEZ pressure:
A sensible one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-Benz-E350-Cdi-...
But brown with cream nappa and alcantara headliner plus inappropriate use of wood on the steering wheel? Yes please. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-60-reg-Mercedes-Be...

That’s a lot of capable car for £6850 pre-haggle.
Gents, I am after advice from wiser heads than I as to how to approach a dilemma I have with the bodyshop which has my CL.
It's been there three months and it hasn't been started. The MoT has run out. He initially told me two weeks which I knew was optimistic so I was prepared for it to take longer. He has a good reputation. He was recommended by my uncle who runs a garage and has been using him for many years, as has my grandad before him.
The first excuse what that two of his guys, a panel beater and a sprayer, were involved in an accident so were off work and as he is a small concern it left him with himself and one other. Perfectly plausible and he called me and I believed him. Another month rolls past and then he said they still weren't back and he'd done his back in so was only working a few hours a day. Again, I believed him. He was very apologetic.
My gut feeling, misguided or otherwise, is that he's underpriced the job and doesn't want to do it. It was an eyebrow-raisingly low price.
I intend to go there this Friday unannounced and have a chat if he's there and check that the car still there. I am considering raising the issue of price in a sort of 'look, are you sure the price is correct and is that preventing you starting it. I am happy to discuss'.
Is this a 'good idea' or should I sit it out for a while longer? Thanks

I think you need to make some kind of noise, otherwise he'll assume you're somewhere between not bothered and dead and he'll just keep slotting other work in front of yours.
If he thinks there's no rush, then other stuff will always get his attention.
I always try to play somewhat fair, understanding that if I want a good job cheap (which I always do) then it won't be quick - but there are limits...

Sweepstake on when the first of these enters thread budget? (In fact, we should run similar sweepstakes on quite a few future barges...)
I’ve made a mental note on the facelifted W212 E class. Last year I was very impressed with the tightness and complete absence of interior trim wear of our holiday hotel’s resident W212 at 397733km, and took a note of the reg plate and photo of the odometer for future reference (we all do stuff like this, don’t we?) Revisiting a year on, I’m pleased to discover it feels equally and impressively tight and refined despite another 80k clicks on the clock. The seats and armrests are unmarked. I’m not sure if Taxi spec MB-Tex still exists but it certainly doesn’t feel like it.I don’t speak enough Greek to enquire about the frequency of bottom arm ball joint replacement, so am unsure as to how many times it has been rebuilt. Still, leggy cars can still feel look and feel baggy and rattly, even with rigorous maintenance, and this really does not. Very impressive, and I’m no fanboi of the three pointed star despite owning one. Who said modern Mercs aren’t up to the job?
The obligatory trip to Auto Trader reveals prices that start with a 7 for examples with half of the miles. Not far to go.

It's fun to do WBAC quote. I did one for a laugh on my XF and their first quote hits me hard at £6700; wait until they have sent 3 or 4 and the price has upped by almost 35% (£8800).
Total con.

In other convertible Mercedes news, interesting that SLKs seem to be leading the thread's "vehicles bought this month" league!

This looks like a decent Lexus. Should be good for a few years of hassle free motoring...

That does look good. Does 5+ owners seems a little high for a car like this? The rear console has more buttons than mine so I am mildly envious.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
This interior in a much darker car would be fantastic, but I'm not sure it works that well here:
Still, at 3 grand that looks a terrific barge buy - good spot.
I agree that a lighter interior works better with a darker exterior but at £3250 that's stonking value.
