I want one of these, and purple would be nice. This looks not perfect, but reasonably priced.
Original colour?

If so, it must surely be unique in the world.
I've seen about three purple Avantime at an owners club meet a few year back.
Looks great. My plan, tog, is for you to buy and fettle that and then for me to buy the perfectly restored car off you thereafter. If you can let me know when it's ready for me we can discuss the derisory sum I'll offer in payment. Many thanks.

Am I right in thinking the biggest problem the Disco 3, the seemingly hard to find Jag 4.4 V8 at any rate has, is the fact they also made the FFRR?

Seems smaller, 4848 long versus 4950, although apparently taller, but that's AT for you.
The Discovery has a stepped roof so that may account for the extra height. They are a big old bus, but hugely practical because of their box like shape and seven seats. If you don't need the practicality, the Range Rover Sport is the same gubbins underneath and will be more readily available in petrol form. A petrol Discovery in this country is incredibly rare, and with the prices of FFRR so low, I'd be looking at either a RRS or FFRR. (Or Grand Cherokee!).

What a fabulous thing to waft about the flat bits of Lincolnshire in - on a warm day get the windows down and just bask in the sunshine and sheer outdoorsy pleasure. Sounds like an honest seller too. Get it bought!

Tempting, but whatever spare funds I have seem to be continually hoovered up by my other cars (well just by the Bristol actually). A friend was selling a lovely 3-litre manual Avantime earlier this year and the triple cost of buying a good one would certainly be cheaper in the long term and probably in the short term too. You wouldn't have the problem of finding parts either. My guess is this could get broken for parts in an owner or two's time.

Agree with the JFDI sentiment, but bear in mind that to run one you could really do with owning two. Parts are problematic to say the least.

Agree on both points. The first part is true of much of what we dribble over here, despite the short-term buzz of buying the shiny thing in front of us.

Very attractive colour combo:

Good looking, if slightly expensive, old skool T5 estate

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-850-T5-rare-Manua...

Can't be long before drivable ones of these depart from upper thread budget

And finally......let me present to you the winner of the thread, with matching plate:

The devil is in the detail with these now - it's going to have to have seen a lot more than regular servicing to make it worth that money as if not there is a litany of things which will need doing soon enough. Could be very nice though.

Why do sellers come out with crap like this though: "The Volvo 850 was pretty much the last of the fully Swedish built Volvo's before they were bought up by the Ford Motor Company". It really wasn't, the impact of that didn't begin to filter through until nearly a decade later.

From my reading, they're basically just the 400h without the batteries and slightly worse mpg's so I imagine a well looked after one would be great.
So I have passed on this one and went for an IS300 instead , but can confirm it's a great car sold by a genuinely lovely person. If anyone is in the market i'd recommend it

Worthy contender under French, quirky, French and quirky, and cosseting comfort clauses. Minus points for boring colours and manual. Overall though, a non-starter for being sold by the type of moron that wants to sell a car without its number plate.

They stay in the bath in Ches Vegas.
If you go down to the market square, turn left at the 1700s, right at the 1500s and there's a twee olde pub which is rumoured to be the centre of the universe.

Green with black is a good colour combo as far as I'm concerned and plates which tell you what the car is don't do anything for me so I think you're being harsh. I would sooner have an auto though.

Look at his user name and other items for sale, and the Renault 25 on the driveway in the background of the XM pics...
