Now that the E63 is 4wd, what is this cars USP?

oh, having 50bhp more, not that anyone will give a hoot
Being able to turn 4wd off? biggrin

As expected, yet another reasonably rapid (in a straight line) but overpriced and true to form soporific Audi with disconnected steering.

Yawn.
Some people are fortunate enough to have other cars for other things - including a GT3 wink
And if you need space / have a dog and don't like Range Rovers and SUVs etc, then estates don't come much, if any better than the C7 RS6. Not sure it really needs more power though smile

Look better?

I have no desire to own the E63, whereas the C7 RS6 looked the absolute biz.

I would say it's the best all round car I've ever owned. Handled it's size well, was rabid in a straight-line and yet all so effortless. It could do absolutely everything well. I even touched 40mpg a few times... in a 600bhp car weighing 2,000kg amazing.

Really regret selling mine; it was just perfect. The comments on here by people who've never driven one are hilarious!

I know someone at Audi and they haven't mentioned the two model approach. They just said it's hybrid with 700ps. Will be announced in a month and released end of the year. The S6/S7 will be 'performance diesels'.

Remember those caricature car drawings with massive wheels? Yeah...

As fast as it'll surely be, these big German barges get larger and more powerful with each generation. Isn't a car like this like having an 16 inch wang? Sure it's impressive, but you cant use most of it and it's a bit unwieldy on a tight c(o)unt(ry road)

On any journey in the UK, you would struggle to lose an enthusiastically-driven 3.0 TDi, though of course you could leave longer black stripes at the traffic lights.
Hmm, on a normal journey through the UK my RS3 would get there faster than my RS6 or my 488. Most likely a Golf GTI would also keep up with it.

However for me, that isn’t really the point!
Sounds like you got things covered. Not jealous at all. The GTI comment gives me an excuse to comment on the subject of estates and driving.

As a driving enthusiast, solving the equation family estate / driver tool has been a tough one, as I know I enjoy one car more than two or more (can only drive one at a time and multiple cars are a hassle for me kids/appartement/city parking).

I know I enjoy light cars and manuals more. I'd love a big engine and a rear driven axle, but when I had to choose, those had to go. So now running a 'GTI' estate with handling upgrades. 380hp, manual and 1410kg kerb. Could be a GT4. And 4 cyl and fwd. Not then, can't have it all. 590l boot and 5 seats though.

On the subject of sidewall, 18" 40 profile PSS with lightweight rims and a front factory ls diff do their miracle work too. And ditching a few open void rubber bushings that dulled the factory car. And doing all I could to reduce lag from the engine, that matters a lot too, love NA approaching throttle response, so important. And tuned to keep pulling all the way to the redline, that too. Multiple pot brakes help the middle pedal feedback.

I did well imho. One day I can ferry the whole family with luggage, pram and a dismounted MTB crammed in the back on the motorway and do so at a pace that keeps me happy but doesn't disturb the passengers too much. Having the same power to weight as a stock C6 RS6 helps. Same day, same car, I can drive a narrow, bumpy very twisty road and come home completely exhilitated by the driver experience.

Power helps for sure, but it's the handling and the feeling of being connected to the road that does it. Very similar satisfaction as with a proper sports car but no rear end out antics, but still some very satisfying feedback through the controls and a tightening line as I exit the corner on the throttle. Then I can easily forgive the slightly uninspiring soundtrack, I don't think about it really. And don't feel any need for more power without the Autobahn. At times like that, the car is a tool that doesn't get in the way of me and that road, and could not care less about brand, bling or interior touch quality. Well you shouldn't, can't have it all now.

Another way of doing it.

Your comment re never having driving one is so true. If someone has, and the RS6 doesn't offer what they want - or expect - then fine. It is, by its very nature, a compromise that those of with dogs and families see as a great daily, but no sports car.
Sadly the closest most people on here have got to one is in their Autocar by the bog.
I would never buy a powerful SUV, but I get why some people do. For me the RS6, AMGs and Alpina estates etc offer a much better package. Good thing we are all different smile

Back in the day (E81), went from 17" factory rft (like 18" non runflat) to lightweight non-runflat 17" saving 6kg per wheel, truly massive difference in feeling, grip AND comfort... and kept up with my bosses boss his Boxter on track.

Personally I’d rather have the new F-Pace SVR and pocket the £30k+ price difference!
