I doubt that will cause an issue the the types that are likely to buy these things... "plenty of room for me as long as the wretched peasant coming the other way throws themself into the ditch"... so not unlike the attitude of those who drive the current crop of "premium" SUVs. Which brings me conveniently onto...

Not much choice colour wise, Black, 2 shades of White and Sunstone. That's it!

Just built one...M50d most options ticked. 105k

You can have your BMW painted any colour you want within reason.

She's no looker is she hehe

Not quite as gopping on the move and in white. It's undoubtably huge for UK roads but so is the GLS and FFRR. Looks a nice place to sit mind.

I’m sure it will be possible to navigate most B roads with it. After all delivery drivers in transits get everywhere. Car parks are going to be the big issue surely. Any potential owner will need to have absolutely no intention of ever parking in a public car park/supermarket etc or have a registered disability in order to guarantee door opening space.
You will see plenty of these in the disabled bays (without a badge) and parent/child bays (without a child) and for the more self conscious in the normal parking bays but straddling the lines to use up 2 spaces.

Just gopping.

The front and rear don't even seem to match.

I should be able to get a bright yellow one since I expect bmw flagship cars to have an individual color spec option.

Well let's hope so because if it annoys folks like you it will have been worth the effort.

Probably if you go into the dealer, the online configurator has 4 colours.

I regularly drive down a narrow country c-road with no natural kerb. It is cars like this that drive down the middle forcing the other road users into the ditches so their gleaming diamond cut alloys will not get dirty. Why are cars like this popular? Why aren't big saloons and estates selling. Personally I would much rather have a 7 Series estate to this.

Apparently no one wants big estates any more. I have the same problem with Alfa - I want a Giulia estate, but they think I want a Stelvio. So I'll probably end up in a Merc. Estates are damn useful when you have dogs.

My approach on narrow roads when faced with something like this is to stop and let them get on with getting past. It's usually hysterical.

I’ve had the pleasure of an S class for a month so far and I’ve got to say these boaty vehicles have a certain allure although one does have to radio the harbour master when you are close to your destination so without a doubt this car is going to be a lovely place to sit and I’m sure it floats and goes like the clappers but those grills are fking horrendous.

We've had three X5's over the last 15 years as family cars.

Great for towing / dogs / kids, they never let us down in 250k plus of motoring, and the quicker ones will show most things a clean pair of heels if well driven.

If you're not bothered about the image that some bestow on they're very reliable and capable.

But.. due to a 93 year old mother we needed a seven seater.

Enter stage left Discovery 4 HSE. Average in every category; performance, mpg, reliability (sub average) .. the one thing it has done is hold its money. It's done 94k now though, and time to find its replacement.

I've been trying to convince the Mrs that a GLC Coupe or GLE Coupe are the way forward but she insists we still need seven seats. Options are limited, people carriers are out as I need the towing capacity.

Now BMW are offering a proper 7 seater I'm seriously considering it (as they'll hopefully be cheap as chips on CH in 6 months). Not because I like the way it looks etc.. I just know it will do the job I need it to do admirably and won't let me down.

Vile. That grille.

I struggle to see the point over the similar engined X5. This behemoth will be too large for UK car parks, B roads etc. One for the Chinese, Americans and Middle East I’d say.
I was about to say the same. Considering this is a US car anyway and China being big fits right in. Will be a very slow seller here - and at £85k+ big depreciation! Interesting to see where there are in 10 years time...

That it still averages something in the high 20mpgs with little effort and can be wound back into conventional DERV duties makes it all the more impressive. We can't think of a more diversely capable oil burner in this segment
The SQ7 engine absolutely destroys this one on economy and performance.
+1 ( and looks )
