I have looked at all the usual suspects on here, but i cannot find a thread on TV/Broadband/Phone packages

Been on Virgin for a year and it has gone up 50.00 pm after the end of the discount year.

Now i dont mind swapping from BT/Sky/Virgin every year but try as i might i cannot complete the maze of their damn sites

Idelly i would like

Phone line with anytime calls ( if i can get Mrs Fox to chat to her bros on my mobile, then just weekends cheepo)
Broadband that is just used for normal PC work, no gaming, film downloads etc
Full TV package ( but if Talking pictures is free then we can bin the Film option)
Music no use for but i think i have to take it in another package
KidsTV to stay for the grandkids ATM
Sports inc HD option
Documentary channels Yep keep them

Surely it is not beyond the wit of these oiks and with the Technology nowadays, i can do a pick and mix,but i get all i get is all sorts of packages that seem tonot be all of what i want
So any clues where the Narnia of forums is for this?

How would you get BT Sports HD without having it as part of a package without a TV subscription?

I can figure out absolutely everything else I'd want to watch, but wouldn't want to forsake the rugby, and I've not really figured out how to get around that?

I get BT Sport HD on my phone/tablet/laptop for £5/month as part of my Plusnet broadband subscription. Cast/HDMI compatible too.

Either this or certain apps that may or may not be available apparently

I've got a Quins season ticket for the home games, so I'd be pushing it a bit with my wife to also bugger off to the pub to watch any of the televised away matches! That's also always assuming I can find a pub prepared to show rugby instead of oikball or loud music! irked

We've just renewed (via the Sky retention team (don't bother with the value team)).

Sky Q (2TB) with an extra box for a 2nd room
Phone (we removed the anytime call option we previously had as we weren't using it enough) - if you wanted it add £10 p/mth
Fibre broadband
All TV with Sky Movies (Movies added £10 p/mth)

£77 p/mth

From memory Sports would have added another £23 p/mth

We've just moved and can't get Sky TV here. Virgin is about 79 quid which over a year is A LOT. We're using NOW TV and Freeview. Apart from not being able to pause live TV or record it's fine. It takes a bit of getting used to but for £1000 less a year we can do that. So far it hasn't been a big issue apart from not being able to record the early morning grand prix and watch when we get up.You still get box sets, movies etc. (And we use an App to watch the remainder that isn't on NOW TV and Freeview.

We've not got a TV package as such

£15 a month for Broadband - nothing fancy.
£79 for Amazon Prime
£8 a month for netflix

I paid £195 to have 9 months sky sports for the F1 on now TV - and pay ad hoc for Entertainment when there is something we want to watch on Sky (GoT at the moment)

All in around £600 for the year - £50 a month.

Obviously not necessarily what the OP wants but agree with others that creating your own package is the way to go.

£30pm virgin media 220mbps
£79 amazon prime (mainly for deliveries but the films and TV are ok)
1p pm for 6 months for Eurosport on amazon prime that will cover Le Mans.
£9.99pm Netflix ultraHD (watch on 4 devices at a time so covers 4 households and when I’m at work)
£20 8months nowTV entertainment (5 months £20 3 months free from McDonald’s)

£578.94 for a years TV and internet (no home phone required)

I assume if the op is paying £50pm for everything he wants then it’s not that bad a deal?

I've just ditched BT, after previously ditching Sky. Both were producing monthlys north of £100.

Now with NowTV for broadband and phone (£25pm). Also with NowTV for TV (£8pm). Just about to purchase their SkySports deal for £195 for 9mths.

I use the NowTV app on the TVs dotted around the house, and an HDMI dongle in the garden room - all connected via wifi. Works perfectly for us.

Virgin's retention people are pretty good... phone up, threaten to leave and you'll magically only be paying one or two quid more than you were before.

I recently had the same, was going from £30 to £45... phoned up, now I pay £32 PCM.

If you quit though they’ll do it for cheaper. Previously paying £34pm went up to £50 retentions reduced it but not enough looking at other forums so quit. 2 weeks later £30 offered can leave after 12 months price locked in for 18 months and after that it will go to £34 for 6 months.
